Title: China bashing thread.
Post by: GT Jets on April 25, 2015, 02:15:14 PM
I irresponsibly China bashed on the harmonic balancer thread. (Sorry bro).

I just wanted to start this one to continue the conversation.

Some products that should never be made in China, but are.

Safety equipment like helmets and fire suits.

Fall protection

Medications

Baby food

Pet food

Automotive performance products.

Electrical components

Plumbing products

Anything structural

The list is endless.

But am I really?  Do you think if these products were advertised by how they are made and by whom that they would still outsell the American made counterpart?

Think about all the product engineers and inventors that have been completely ripped off by these practices. Your patent means zero in China.

Don't think that... The US has somewhat been addressing it, the tariffs that is. Take tires for instance. The chinks have been unloading new chink truck tires for a few years or more now. They are at about the same or a little more than a retreaded truck tire price. The tires aren't worth a rats ass, wear out like erasers, and are for the most part unretreadable. A tire from non chink manufactuer will last longer and be retreadable anywhere from 3 to many more times depending on the application. If you look at the economic part of it, you pay for example maybe 6 to 8 hundred for a new tire, get your wear out of it, and then have it retreaded 2,3,4 or more times, for about 150 to 200 bucks. The chink tires wear it out and throw it away. The US has imposed a tariff on those tires because of their dumping on the US market.

Well I use to be in the solar industry . And China took the market , but it was not there design !!! It was ours. But they flooded the market with cheaper solar panels . Destroyed the U.S. Market . And why I don't work for that company any longer.

I feel I need to say something on this subject. Made4you products is made and packaged in the U.S. And Taylor wire stole my family's design. Yes we could sue but at the end I believe we make a better product.

Curiosity is getting the better of me. This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

Can you get any more specific? Specific enough for us to do our own research?

My wife's mom has a patient and started the production in the early 80s. But what she has said to me is she could sue but they have more time and money. So she just tries to get the product out to make ends meet.

ive heard of situations like that.  going against a bigger company....is tough.  they can afford to drag out litigation.  eventually....the little guy runs out of money and drops the suit.  its not right....but the bigger guys know it.

someone on here said it right........greed!

She could get things cheaper in China from manufacturing to packed the product, but she believes there is enough people out there buying american made to make ends meet.

I can't agree more on some of the knock off truck tires. We had some new take-off steer tires from booster axles of new trucks we bought(Doudle Coin to be exact). They were put on other trucks and within about 2500 miles, developed a horrible shake/vibration. Come to find out, tires were out of round.

GT I have been following this on both threads. I 100% agree with you. I am a union pipefitter and I have alway looked for made in USA products. The boots subject that was on the other post I agree with. I have been buying union made, made in the USA thorogood boots. But they also have hunting and hiking boots wood n stream that are the same but they carry the same brand at bass pro that are made in China. I don't get how they can do made in USA and also have a made in China line kinda like red wings.

You have to be careful today, I bought rotors off ebay that said American made, what I got had china stamped on it. I called the company and the told me they were designed in USA and machined in USA. They are made in china, the rotors are junk. They warp all the time(I've turned them a few times). Its getting hard to find American made products. I watched a news special about china and they all want American made products there. They don't even want their own sh#$.

Nafta (Clinton) was a good start for most of what we see now. He said it would balance the budget but didn't mention the consequence. A fair way to gain back American made is to raise import fees an lower export fees. Also any company/affiliates bringing in unsafe, similar or cheaply made products are fined, jailed an can no longer sell to this country ever again.

NAFTA killed everything.

It pretty much eliminated profitable plant nurseries, this includes the food we eat, flowers,  seed production.

It allowed automotive companies to out source much of the parts on new cars to come from third world's and it's funny, but while the cars are being made less expensively, the MSRP prices went up by the biggest margin in decades.

It did clean up "our" air and water, but destroyed it in other countries (not sure how that is environmentally friendly) . All we did was relocate the responsible environmental practices and sent to countries that sell off their drinkable water and breathable air for profits to build up their military, awesome.

It made competing in this country as "the little guy" virtually impossible.  Making the bigger fish bigger and more predatory, allowing them to swallow up all the American Dreamers.

And it didn't really balance the budget, it sold us to other countries for a profit. Now I think that what we lost, we can never get back. Especially when all we get in the White House are special interest Ding Dongs and have to pick the candidate with the least amount of visible dirt on them.

Look at the current prospects. Really?  Is like grocery shopping at a land fill.

Ted Turner needs to be convinced to run. Not on an independent ticket either, as much as I hate to say it, as a Democrat. He would kick ass.

Gotta go get some breakfast. Feeling like dog crap. Lol.
