finally got drawn for an elk tag, have waited 8yrs to go get one of these. Got one tues morning up by the Grand Canyon with a muzzleloader. We had been chasing elk since the Thurs before, hiking our arses off and passing on a couple smaller bulls. Lets just say I am back to work but still on cloud nine ;D

moose is on my top five hunts i want to do, just got to save up awhile for that one, next hunt is whitetail in southern arizona, starts the friday after thanksgiving. that one is rifle though, it is fun, last year i got mine at 450yds very low light, my buddy shot his at 475, both with remington 300 ultra mags, one swarovski scope, one leaupold (sp)

too bad bull doesnt taste as good as cow elk...gonna make a really nice mount though congrats forkie! i'll take the back strap off of your hands that meat sucks!
-
hahahahah ;D ::) :screwy: :sly:
maybe the first one i shot, but not the first one to fill my freezer, best friend lives to hunt and his wife hates the meat :screwy:
-
yeah my buddy seems to get one every year...his daughter or son or him pull a cow tag maybe sometimes 2, and i get a generous portion...last hunt in 07 he gave me some back strap yummy!!!!! i might still have a couple pounds of ground meat in the freezer...elk is probably the best tasting out there and lean too! one year i went over to help him butcher and we pulled some back strap right out of the cooler and threw it in the skillet good stuff right there! dang it i need to put in for an archery tag someday my bow sits here and does nothing :banghead: least it was a good try...

elk is def tasty, i would put it right behind my buffalo for all time best game meat. You should put in for archery in az, let me know what unit, we can help you out with areas to go. Buddys all got drawn for archery this year, all got their bulls a 372, 360ish,335 and one smaller, one of the wives missed on at least a 395 :o mine for referance is about a 350-355
