So...I want to put a foot throttle on my Spectra, but it has no sub floor nor is it a full stringer boat...How do I mount it to the boat??? ??? Whithout running those cool lookin' screws that go all the way thru the bottom! ;D It's not thick enuff to run short screws without going all the way thru is it? ??? Thanks in advance....

if you dont have a sub floor or full stringers how do your seats mount?
my sanger has the bolts going through the bottom

The seats sit on "framed bases" that are glassed to the floor...

Duct tape. ;D
You could glass in a 1" thick piece of wood for a platform.
That should give you enough material to screw into without hitting the hull.
Radius the top edges of the wood into the sides and the hump from the wood shouldn't stand out too much.
And it will be more hidden if you're laying carpet.
Just a thought. Was it a hand throttle?

Unfortunately I think it would be easiest to glass a block in the bottom of the hull where you want to mount your chit...
Putting the screws through the bottom of the hull is the proper way IMHO... :-\

Really,GT? puttin' em all the way thru you think? I really didn't wanna have to do that...if that is the case I may just keep it a hand throttle.....

Pretty sure that your boat has a subbfloor John I think your safe , Skee theres no shame in mounting it thru the bottom with countersunk stainless hardware , My Schiada was done that way from the builder Also laminating down a block or piece like GT said could ban easy fix call me if you need help Tom

Nah Tom, while you were off playing with babies I hauled ass up to Fresno and bought a Spectra 20. Engine boxed/no stringer in the front.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to hire help than to keep breedin' yer own? Day labor only expects a burrito at noon, yer way ya gotta feed em round the clock and clean up after em.
Hmmm now there is a household chore I really hate! Diaper dootie >:D

I have a feelin' Diaper dootie is mostly a MRS JBP chore! I beleive spoiling and catering to the grandkids is where Tom shines! ;D
I also beleive that in the very near future, in all shipments from JBP, all labels will be written in Crayola, complete with backwards "S"s and "E"s and we're all gonna be damn proud of those lil tykes..........Just wait til they're building your jet pump!
Congratulations again! I'm not sure I'm ready for all that, but am SURE looking forward to getting even with my own kids!

Tracy, Personally, had my 21' Beisemeyer not burned and sunk, I was going to convert it to hand throttle from the foot throttle. Was, to me anyway, a PITA to keep the foot pressure on it to go a whopping 45 MPH. At that blistering pace, was more fun just enjoying the scenery and cruising around or towing a tube or skier. I think the boat probably had another easy 10mph in it, but even at that.
If it's a Hot Rod, then by all means!

just some food for thought on glassing a piece of ply to the floor dont do it...i had some long screws going through the floor, and i decided the other day that it would be best to put stainless ones in their instead...and this is my foot throttle...so i had some one inch stainless screws and put those in besides the long ones, and dont worry i didnt use the existing holes in my sub-floor...anyway i stabbed the throttle, and the screws pulled....needless to say i got the longer screws back in their, and no problems....as much pressure as you put on the throttle i dont think a 3/4 or 1 inch screw is going to keep the foot throttle there! honestly if i was in your situation i would countersink/silicone in some good stainless bolts through the hull, and call it a day...yeah i know bad feeling putting holes in the bottom of your boat, but oh well...good luck with whatever you decide
and honestly in my opinion i would leave the hand control there, because even if you eliminate the throttle you still half to leave that big box of a control there for your forward reverse! might as well put it to use
