If you have center-hung float bowls, you might consider wedged floats. I ran these on road race cars as did the guy that turned me onto them, in addition to running them various classes of drag cars including his personal Pro Stock car. The concept is that the float is beveled so that when the fuel sloshes to one side of the bowl or the other (in a road racing application) from G-forces, the fuel doesn’t push the float up acting like the bowl is full allowing fuel to continue to flow through the needle and seat.
In a sideways carb TR application, the fuel will slosh towards the rear of the (boat) bowl on launch; matter at rest tends to stay at rest until acted upon by an outside force. The fuel stacked up against the side of the bowl tricks the needle and seat into thinking that the fuel level is actually higher than it is by pushing up on the edge of the float. This could possibly starve the jets of fuel because the float level will be higher with less fuel in the bowl compared to if the whole carb was at rest.
You actually have a similar situation on forward facing carbs, hence the use of jet extensions in the rear metering block and vent extensions (often called a "whistle") typically in the front metering block but could also be used in the rear to prevent fuel dumping out of the bowl vent under hard deceleration. I don’t typically use a whistle on the rear because when the fuel sloshes back in the bowl, it covers the end of the whistle which prevents proper function of the bowl vent. On sideways mounted carbs, you could use bowl vent extensions on both metering blocks, but do not use jet extensions.
