Title: Lurking on other sites...
Post by: crewchief22 on May 23, 2012, 11:16:23 PM
I was lurking around on some of the other boating sites looking for pics from the AVI gathering and was suprised how many "other-drive" owners spend time bashing jet boats  >:(

All I can figure is that after spending $40,000+ to build a boat that's only worth $10k and having to look at it on the trailer because your afraid it might get water spotted is enough to make anyone angry.

F%&* them, I'll stay over here where I belong.

Thanks Brad  ;D

You just figured that out ?   That fight is as old as the Ford vs Chevy battle, and almost as amusing.  ::)

I think I was just pissed that I had to go through 20 pages of beat down before I found an old pic of my boat  ;D

To each, his own..

My pops had an '89 Hallett 21' with 454/Bravo drive. Was an awesome boat. Differences between mine and his is his did better on fuel, maybe 2 mph faster...

Mine is just plain "more fun to drive" and more river friendly. No need to go shit talking on either one. If I wanted a v drive, I'd go buy a damn v drive, but I'm happy with my "jet bote" and I have more fun on mine than the shit talkers do on theirs.

I went and looked at a few v drives befo i finally decided on a jet and started my project. You cant squirt any one with a v drive;)

That and I didn't feel like climbing around a drive shaft tube, gear box or worry about shallow areas 8)

A squirt sounds cooler than a wacker and a blender

when i was looking to buy a boat i was first looking at an outboard... as time went on i fell in love with the customization of jet boats.. no 2 boats are alike... the motors are customized from size to style, colors, and exhaust... the colors of the boats are all different.. the names are way cooler.... you can go pretty much anywhere with a jet boat.... you dont have to worry about ur prop getting stollen, and what is better then a huge roster tail coming off your jet....

PLUS i have a buddy with a 23' eliminator... bad ass boat... still owes 20,000.... IM PAID OFF.... and i can do what he does...

jet boats are way better...

people who take props to the river have always puzzled me, but if you got the money to burn, feel free.

I had been eye ball'n a 24ft Power Quest at Inland Boats for two years. Wanted to beef up the BBC, prop & make early morning runs to Catalina. Almost inked up on 60 months of payments. How many times will I drive to the beach & launch that thing with the price of gas? Then one day I'm on the dock with my boat & customers were taking the Power Quest for a test drive. I had a chance to match up what I had with what I wanted. I'm so happy I didn't buy that Power Quest.  ;)

ive got a prop and i only go to the river. As long as you know what you are doing you are fine. I think i hit bottom once and dinged a prop and i was towing a guy home at the time so i was not really paying attention. I loved my mini day jet boat but my new boat is a whole different world. Being at willow valley now there is soooo much river i can cover with my boat where my jet powered mini day would barely make it to pirates cove on a full tank of gas.  Last weekend i went from willow to davis dam back down to the london bridge an then back up to willow and still had fuel left over.

I am kind of stuck in the middle Jet boats rock! and i am building a mini jet right now. But the performance of my weed whacker has not dissappointed me as of yet.love my new boat. But i still hang out on here cause the people are more my type.

i agree just pick the boat and style you like and scrw what everyone thinks. I just wanted better gas mileage and a little more speed so my mini day was not the boat for me. I started shopping for a TPR/Ultra deck boat with a jet. But after seaching more and doing more research and basicly falling in love with the look of the placecraft deck that is the one i decided. It has a very fast bottom. my boat runs just at 80mph. and it does that on 87 octane with a stock fuel injected 496mag. I am not sure what the miles per gallon are but i made a trip from blythe all the way dow to fishers landing in Martinez a few summers ago. it took me a tank and a half to go there and back. and i was hauling ass on the way back up river cause the water was starting to get shallow.

anyway to each their own. its not the boat that is any better than the one next to it, it is the owner...

Back in the day my brother and I were on scream and fly and it was like a internet war all the time. The out board guys were relentless. So we would make it a point to go out and kick an outboards ass for 3 bouys then let off just to piss them off.
