Immigration isn't the problem, it's illegal immigration that's the problem. We need to stop rewarding people and businesses for breaking the law. We need to stop providing anything but a one way ticket back to your country for hopping the border in the middle of the night. Closing the borders would suffocate our country, the statue of liberty says "Give me your poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free" and that shouldn't change. We should embrace diversity because it gives us strength. However we should get better at enforcing our laws. What Arizona is doing is enforcing the laws that are already on the books, and the feds don't do.
I agree that something needs to change, but a blanket statement that all immigration is bad, I don't think is the right approach to this issue.
Part of what needs to change is someone immigrating to this country and demanding that we change our ways to suit them, isolating themselves and not integrating with our culture, our society, our morays and ways of doing things. We need to do a better job at acclimating people to our way of life. They should be engaged and proud of their new citizenship, maybe eliminate dual citizenship? Maybe tax money that's being shipped out wholesale to other countries to support family members in them? I don't know the answer, but it begins with changing the way the U.S. deals with this problem. Stopping people from wanting to live better, be free isn't the answer.
Our government is so full of fail, it's amazing. The simplest things become multi-billion dollar failures at every level, local, state, federal.
There has to be a better way to deal with this shit.
Haha, I'm totally going to get socked at the river for this shit aren't I
