Hot Boat magazine is like reading Motor Trend. They never have anything bad to say about anything. Every year they hand out "awards" and they must have 20 catagories so everyone can be the best at sumthing. It has really gone down hill since Lary Flynt of Hustler fame bought it. Waste of friggin paper if you want truthful testing but the photography is pretty good. They used to work out of a little hole in the wall in Corona by the dog pound but now they are based in Bev Hills and seem to be bucks up. Turning rant off now. Boy do I feel better.

I've wanted to say what you just said since Hot Rod went down the same politically correct go where the money is CRAP. I'm sorry, was I yelling? :D They do an article on how to paint your hot rod with a paint roller and how great it turned out for that particular project and the next article is about Chip Foose's one of only 50 hot rods auctioned off at the Barrett Jackson. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:( WTF? you know that paint roller job looked like horsesh!t closer than 20 feet... anyone seen my soapbox around here? ??? :D

Oh was this your soapbox I was standing on? Sorry it looked like it just needed standing on and well things just kinda went from there. My bad...

True story . . . back in the late 80's for one of my final classes at CSUFullerton I got an internship at HotBoat. I always dreamed of working for Dirt Bike or MXA but this was as close as I was going to get. First they told me to write up a review of a hydraulic jack plate. WTF is that I say. Here's the brochure on it, that's all you need they tell me. OK next thing you know I turn it into 3 pages of technical sounding BS and it goes to print as gospel. Then they tell me to review a bunch of different parasails. Cool lets go to Mead or Mojave and check em out. Oooh nooo no money for that they say, just call the mfg's and get some company PR materials and work your magic like you did w/ the jack plate. So again it looks like gospel in the mag but I never even got to touch one of em. I made em all sound like the shizzle but I didn't know sh*t from shine. Hey maybe I ruined Hot Boat. Naw...
Some real nice peeps working there b4 they moved to BevHills tho.

It's July 2007....I like Hotboat 'cause I can't read....I just do like a kid and look at the pics...I Actually don't think it's that bad..Maybe because I don't look for any rag ta' tell me whats better then the next cause it's all opinions and opinions are like a-holes...I just like to see the lastest shit out that I can't afford and it's probably the only rag in stores that has a section dedicated ta' jetboats...Here HotRod...You can have yer soapbox back..Ohh Yea..Scoreboard Brad! Hotboat mag has a pic of that boat getting it's deck ripped right off in the Nostalgia Jet class and I saw it here first! ;D
PS...You learned somin' Glasscutter...Jack plates are the shit...;D
-
Jim just told me that the CJ53 made the cover :o
Congrats to the DCucci/Finney crew!
-
What I learned is that I don't need no stinking jackplate cuz I will never own a whacka. Oil slingers make great chain saws and blenders, but in boats JETS ROCK.
-
Woah, I just saw this post. I need to look in this Forum more often.
I havn't seen the July isue yet so I don't know if it's mine. I have yet to see another one like it though. My boat was featured in the August '03 issue.
My ass is in the June issue though. I'm in the "crowd" pic at the Constantino benefit boat show. ;D
Oh, and it looks like this will be the last year that Cole Cash sports the current paint job. It's up at Billy B's getting some touch ups done for the CFW fathers Day event and I'm thinking in November I'm going to drop it off for some updates. It will be similar but with all new paint, artistry and imagination of Billy B. His work is amazing!!
It will retain the same name and numbers.

It's just getting a few touch ups now. Had an incident with the trailer pin breaking and sending the bor into the rear of the truck. Homie can't roll like that to CFW O0
November is when the real change takes place ;)
-
well that blows . Cant wait to see it done .
