Freakin' sweet! I've got a lot of questions - wait where's a brown bag - I can't breathe - just kidding. Seriously, how come every Rogers I've seen has a split bowl? Why are they all full or 3/4 stringer boats? Why did production stop, I've never seen one newer than a ? I think ? 1986 23' jet daycruiser ??  Can I locate a pic of mine when it was new ('76 Bonneville)?

Hey guys, cool site.   ;)

HotRod56,
Lots of questions...I'll try to answer them in order.

There were no options on pump brand, you got a Berk JG or you got another brand of boat. Later, when Berkeley pumps were hard to find, this rule might have been broken. But that was in the 90s. I'm going back and thinking now (and it hurts) that might not be true. I think I can remember see a few C bowls along the way. But Always a Berk. Hmmm, I'm calling Roger again next week to shoot the bull some more, I'll ask him. Spoke with him last week, he's enjoying the retired life at Havasu.

All Rogers were built with one thing in mind, quaility. There were no stinger options either, full length, or none at all. lol. Some of the race boats did have thinner stringers, but still full length.

Production stopped when Roger retired, about 3 years ago. The last few years only a couple of boats were done each season. Lots of repair work was done too, he re-did many of his old boats. So I believe the last one built was in 2003.

There was never a 23' cruiser built in 1986, biggest he did then was a 21. Back in the 70s he did offer a double stepped deck that was 22 feet or so. I've only seen one of them.

Super cool guy, grew up with and is the same age as my mom. There's 2 or 3 guys that I worked with or for since the early 70s that I really miss hanging out with... he's #2, the other would be my dad.

Thanks for the response. Glad to hear he's alive and well, just in retirement. Was there pictures taken of the new boats before they left his shop and if so are they accessible? I've seen you at the "other" site but I've never joined because I'm a post hog over here.   >:D

Roger had a very large collection of pictures of his boats through the years, if he still has the album, I don't know.
He can, almost always, tell you who ordered what boat and when just by looking at it, if it's still wearing the original gelcoat. He truly was one of the last one on one builders, working closley with the customer. And he had a very loyal following. Many families bought several of his boats through the years, several would buy nothing but his boats.

You might get the chance to meet him this summer. I'll keep you posted as to how my plans turn out.  ;)

I've read many similar statements about him and his boats. The mag HotBoat had a short paragraph or two that was similar also. I know the fiberglass work on my '75 is some the best I've ever seen. It's original gel is gone, which is why I want to see a pic of it. I want to get it back to its original colors someday.

It was white where there's white, bright light/medium green where there's gray, and I think blue where there's red.
