In your guys opinion what are the top 5 hulls and why?
Curious to see what everyone thinks.

Hull's for what purpose , racing , family , skiing?

I gotta vote Spectra in the top 5 somewhere. Back in the day, who didn't copy them?
I don't know much about Horizon, but the one we had was indestructible. No one put more hours on the water than we did in that boat. Lots of room and pretty flat bottom while still riding nice.

Since use and type are not clarified, I am going to add "if money was no object" and "jet" to the mix.
Outlaw Eagle tunnel would be at the very top of my list......

X2 on the Hallett being in the top 5, they are heavy though. Not the fastest boat but solid for sure.

these are just the ones i would want i guess you can say
these are in no paticular order and there is many other hulls that are awesome too

I going to say hondo and eliminator as those are the only two I've had. I've always heard good things about hallet too though

Be hard for me to build a list, so many boats are so good in so many different fashions, BUT my top five would be, if I were looking to buy,
In the 17'-18' category,
Rogers, Biesemeyer or Stevens
In the 18'-19' Category
Hallett, hands down
In the 19'-20' Category
Sleekcraft
In the 20-21' Category
Either Southwind or Biesemeyer would be my choice
21' and above?

im prob going to catch hell for this one but how about a mastercraft , those 80s comp ski boats they made for years never herd of anyone hating them!and i have always had a soft spot for a sanger pickel fork hydro! i mean hell they used them for tf racing!!!

The number one and 2 spot would be a toss up between a Cp performance and a 19 Daytona, #3 would be a 19 biesmeyer flattie v-drive, #4 spectra 20, always had a soft spot for that Hull and #5 would be the Sanger bubble deck, flattie or jet.

Was talking w/John Miller the other day, as I'm building a '76 project...wanted to know about thier old race boats back in the late 70's....early 80's. Got info, and as John said...although Rogers had some of the fastest....I think if you check..Miller has the fastest v-bottom jets ever built. Not from liking Miller ( this one is my first & have called them the competition for years )...John was very gracious w/info...& I think he might just be right. John Rennie in Low-Rider ran really hard, as did Don Zigler ( forget the boats name ).
Fortunate enought to have a 1-owner 21' v-drive Spectra ( my all time dream boat ) that ran just fine in the waters off of Guam. Pioneer I could never EVER get to take a set.
Earl Smith & Eliminator guys I'd never choose off.
Hallets were in the mix too.

After all, its an unanswerable question. Top 5 will depend on what you want the boat to do, where you use it, and how many people you need to cram in it, not to mention looks. As an example, one of my top 5 would be a 19' Cheyenne tunnel. But if I had a family of 5, two dogs, three coolers, a bunch of floaty pull toys to drag around, and I wanted to be on the local popular lake on the 4th of July. It sure wouldn't be on my list. ;)

Proppy's had 2 Daytona's now. I beleive I would put that at the top of my list as well depending on what you want to do with the boat. The Liberator 21' I would group and call even with the Daytona, IMHO.
But yes, the situation and useage makes a HUGE difference.
As an example, my kids REALLY miss the 21' Biesemeyer. They had fun with Moo, and fun in Pickle, but a BLAST in the slow, QUIET, and just leisure attitude of the Beiser. So much so, they really don't want to go on boating trips anymore (Since all I have is the Charger running). They're at the point of boyfriends/girlfriends, college, etc. which has made me rethink my Twin Jet, as well as the Saguaro (in progress). For instance, took this girl my son likes, and her Mom out a couple months ago. I didn't think then, and was proved right, there would be a second date, but RJ wanted me to do this. And the Charger you could time with a Sundial, most of you know.......Dunno what this girls Mom woulda thought about Pickle......... Moo mighta killed the broad outright.........
So, My Top 5 hulls, from a PRACTICAL standpoint would be
-1 Schiada 21'
-2 Biesemeyer 21'
-3 Sleekcraft Rebel 18'
-4 Sleekcraft SST 20'
-5 Southwind 20' Miniday

I like my Horizon just because it looks so differant than most. Rides rough but handles awesome. I don't know why it did not make the list, hmmmmm..... :thumbup:

Barron Sprint is one of the fastest flats ever built.
18' jets are solid and fast as well like Tom Bandys' boat.
To all the cruisers they have built since the begining.
Pleasure and race .
The Vector, the 210 and all the way through the 52' they offer.
In the top 3 in construction and quality.
I honestly can't see more than 2 maybe 3 other companies that have consistently built a top notch boats since their inception and only 1 is still around.
For me , in every category, Hallett has a boat and spot at the top of every list.
