Who's buying an American made Fiat?

So just curious, who would consider buying an American made Fiat motorcar from the Chrysler plant?????

Personally, I would rather buy a frikken Omni from the late '80's than anything that says Fiat...

Do they really think there is a market for Fiat?

What are your thoughts?

But what was that 2 seater Fiat that was all the rage in the mid/late70's?? For the life of me can't remember it's name. Basically what Pontiac copied for it's Fiero?  TR4, maybe, I think?

Pshaw!!!! what a joke, just as the Fiero was (and coulda been one helluva car, both of them, if theyda carried more HP than your average lawn tractor!).

But BUY one??? Sorry, ain't buyin nuttin from a company based in the country that brought us AbbA! Don't care where it's built!

I think you are talkin X1/9...Had one (long story) with a turbocharger, I was too tall to drive it... :banghead:  Took it on a bad debt, should have just written it off... :screwy:

I just think the feds stepped allover their Johnson to allow this to happen, they can't even sell Toyota's right now, and they think Fiat can save the day?

I'd LOVE to see one parked along an 83 Fiero, but that's another matter.

You're in the groove Glenn, Why allow this? We need another POS company manufacuring POS stuff for the American consumer when all the money's going to China anyway. (Just looked that up, of the 16 board members, and the sec, i'll add in a minute, 14 are Italian, 1 of those is openly Sicilian, 1 is German, 1 is Swiss.)

This is a Finnish company, no?

Now, I am not one to prejudge, or pre-disposition, anyone, but I am a good part Italian, and I know that side of my family......! My wife was MUCH more so Deigo than I, and her family scarier because of that.

But why is this Finnish company all of a sudden under the control of the Italians? And NOW coming to build a plant in America???

Ray, Fiat is an Italian based company with ties to every type of motor vehicle.

I agree that Fiat has a poor reputation in North America for anyone over the age of 40, but look at what has happened to the automotive industry in the last 30 years.  We have lost several brands and gained more "new" brands selling cars in America (Lost: Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Isuzu, Opel, Saab, Fiat... Gained: Hyundai, KIA, Scion, Infinity, Acura, Lexus, Saab, Fiat...). 

The point is manufacturers and brands will come and go, but they have to either produce a decent product or chance not surviving.  Hyundai didn't have the best product when they started out (the best sales pitch was Rodney King doing 100mph in one  ;D ), but they have a very good one now. 

Having Fiat here could be a good thing for the industry, but you're right... I don't think I'll be buying one anytime soon.
