What hull do you like and why?
« on: May 07, 2007, 12:57:31 PM »
I'm going to be buying an older jet boat as soon as I sell my motorcycle.  I've got my eye on a bubble deck Sanger but If it goes before I can get it I'm going to be looking at everything.  So, what do you like and why? :)

You are on the right track with the Sanger bubble deck. Other companies used the Sanger decks as well such as Bahner, Pioneer, Eliminator etc. All great looking hulls.

Crewchief22, there are many Sangers that were made.  The one I have is a Sanger Custom Sprint Jet.  The Sanger Superjet is very similar, except it has a 10" shorter deck and the engine area is wider.  If you have any questions about the Sangers, please feel free to call anytime.

Oh yeah !!  SANGER CUSTOM SPRINT JET, because they are bitchen !

Rogers Custom Boats! Quality second to none, NONE! All were 3/4 or full stringer hulls, all of them that I've seen have split bowl pumps, all are hand-laid fiberglass (not shot out of a gun), no short cuts or lesser line hulls available. Classic lines with classic quality, what could be better?   ;D

The gull wing hulls (molds went through many hands) are very cool and unique looking also, just not my cup of tea, err... BEER! There's some pretty cool looking tunnels and pickle's out there as well.

Because that fockin thing is just bad ass !

As far as jet boat hulls are concerned , I think it's pretty much been covered. Off the top of my head some of the more well know go fast hulls were the rogers , sangers , biesmeyers , hondo , southwind , (the original one anyways) eliminator daytonas and the sprints (which came in a bubble deck) , hallett whom made a heavier and an almost bulletproof boat with a fast bottom and another top notch hull builder .

What you gonna use it for ?

Little bit of sking and a lot of playing around the river.  I recently signed up at Emerald Cove and will be spending as much time there as I can get away from work.  I love the style of the Sanger type hull.  Is there a brand I should watch out for?

Kool Brad, ya got any of the motor? I want some before and afters. Dude I have been polishing on that sucker since I got it, whenever i can that is. I havent even turned it over yet. I have however talked to the enigine builder, Phil Stock, he was at Parker! Between him the old owner and Jerry V-drive we have the complete history on it, everything should be tits.

Yeah watch out for Mercury's, Johnson's, and Evinrude's!   >:D

Rogers look very similar to Sanger's. Sanger's are also excellant boats.

Me too beerjet, the 18 and 19 bubble are my all time favorite hulls, just beautiful...especially when capped.
That bubble came off a then new Sanger. Roger somehow got his hands on one for a day or so and popped a mold from it, just the bubble part, nothing else and then grafted it to his flat deck cyclone deck.  :)

What molds went through your hands? Just curious, cause Roger never had a set of gullwing molds or a gullwing hull. Did were they from another builder? Got any pictures? Where'd they go?  Inquiring minds need to know.  ;)

I didn't word that quite right, I've never seen or heard of a Roger's Gull wing hull. A friend of mine has a CP Gull Wing, should be on the water next year with a 468 BBC, aluminum heads, and a 8:71. I'll take some pics of it and post them some other day (?).

BTW, that was cool reading how Rogers got the bubble on the bubble deck!

They are very very quick. Alot of fun to drive. I saw that boat for sale you got a killer deal. You will be very happy. Some will disagree but 0-80 that haul will whoop some serious tunnell ass. They are capable of triple digits, but they get narly.
