I know a lot of people on here are questioning what I did, so here is the other side of the story that no one has heard. I am doing this because someone whose name rhymes with "Skip" has asked me to clear some air. If you read this and dont like the way I did things, well to bad because whats done is done.
Tony lent me an exhaust log for a 460. While I had his log or what I thought was his log (remember this part, it comes into play later) I lost my phone and didnt have any means of contacting anyone for a few days. Apparently Tony was trying to call me during this time. Now a few days have gone by and I have gotten a new phone but I have lost all contacts. Tony gets a hold of me and we talk and I told him that I still have his log and that I could give it back to him the next day because at the time it was dark outside and I wasnt going to try and pull a log in the dark. Later that same night Brad calls me and said that Tony called him and was calling me a bitch because I wouldnt answer my for days (remember the part where I lost my phone). At that point I said to myself, "well lets just see who the bitch is," and decided to keep the log a little longer but still had the intentions of giving it back. Now after several more days have passed I go and pull the log off of my boat to give back to him. The same day I pull the log, the real owner of the log contacts me and starts to threaten me. At this point I say to myself, "fock this guy, I am gonna give him a little spanking." I put the log back onto my boat and continue to use it but still had the intentions on giving the log back to Tony in a few days. I believe it was two days later when someone and I dont remember who it was said that Tony and the real owner (which turns out I work with the guy) had gone to the head boss of the Needles terminal where I work to "tell on me." Now to me this is an attack on my livelyhood so fock both of these guys, I will give it back when I am good and ready. I was then forced to work in Bakersfield for a while. While I was gone either Tony or someone with the same build as him was caught at like three in the morning in my boat. This is where I then say to myself, "That motherfocker just lost his shit, this is my log now." Now the real owner of the log sees me at work and tries to threaten me in front of all the people I work with about how he is coming over to my house blah blah blah (here is a little hint for everyone: dont threaten people if you are an overweight middle-aged man that couldnt handle yourself in a real fight!). A couple of days pass and my conscience starts getting to me about this whole thing so I decide that these two clowns have been spanked enough. I removed the log and gave it to 2sav and he then returned it to Tony.
The whole moral of the story is: If you just be polite to someone instead of thinking you are some kind of badass you will accomplish a lot more.
Thats the whole story the way it played out, to the best of my knowledge I didnt omit anything from it. Like I said earlier, if you dont like the way this played out thats too bad because its already a done deal.

very true.
may want to add: "no matter how bad ass you may think you are, remember, there's plenty of peolple out there that can kick your ass".
i don't know it sounded good. just don't fuck with my shit cuz i can't wait for the day to catch someone in my yard taking something. i can test all those things that that government has spent tons of money to teach me to whoop some ass ;D

Very true!! I think that is something that nobody is exempt from!!

No the moral of the story is "Never try to help Ryan out by loaning him something that you expect to get back in a reasonable amount of time because he is too busy spanking."
Welcome back Spanky :-*

Well now you know the other side of the story. Your pretty good on the welcome back spanky part! Did you come up with that or did you have some help? Like I said what is done is done.

I remember reading through the original discussion of this incident, but don't really remember the details or know any of the parties involved. However, if you are looking for a response--here's mine. It sounds like this dispute stemmed from an unreturned borrowed exhaust log, which escalated when your phone went "dark" (for whatever reason), and then escalated out of control because of your desire to "spank" the person to whom you owed the part and timely communication. I don't understand your decision punish the person who just wanted their log back and couldn't get it back from you. You even admit, "my conscience starts getting to me over this whole thing.." so you knew you were wrong, but your ego, "if you don't like the way this played out, thats to bad because its already a done deal" keeps you from taking responsibility for the dispute. It would have been alot more effective to just say--Sorry, I screwed up, won't happen again. And then you wouldn't have had to avoid the SCJB board all these months.
This is from an overweight old guy who doesn't want to fight,

I respect your response. Its not that I am not taking responsibility, the whole point of this was that I am not going to take any crap from some punk ass for something that I couldnt have controlled (losing my phone). I know it escallated into something that was stupid. As said before, be somewhat curteous and you will accomplish more than trying to be tough and acting like an asshole.

Side Note: I am not really looking for a response as to why I am wrong or right in anyones opinion. I did this thread for someone who asked me to explain everthing that happened and I happen to respect that person quite a bit.

You can spew all the lies you want Ryan, I don't care anymore. I waited for a month after memorial for a month, and I got ahold of you, I never bad mouthed and you can read all about it in the thread I started. For 4 months you avoided me... all I wanted was my part back that you said you would give back in a week.... I called you, your phone worked, I contacted you on Myspace, never got a response even though it had said you have been logged on. I had no way to get ahold of you at all. My brother worked for the railroad, he finally was able to cross paths with you and at the time you had no problem giving the log back, sure enough 2 days later you gave it back. You can act like a hard ass all you want, and threaten me again physically... because I don't really care. What you did was wrong, and that's it. The logs were mine, and I was trading them for a set of headers, and all of this was holding me up.
Went by the railroad company on the way home from work today. My brother works for the same company. I went through the parking lots looking for either of his two vehicles that I know of, and hadn't seen either. I'm not one to bash at all, especially on the internet. But I did a favor and was guaranteed when I would get this part back. I've been holding out from doing this for a long time.
I would hold nothing against him if he gave me a call or PM, and just let me have the log back, that's all I ask.
WHen he had picked up the phone, I had called from a friend's restricted number, so he wouldn't see my number, and he picked up. And the day after there is no pick up, or return of voice mails for 3 weeks straight, after leaving messages everyday.
I would completely understand if there was something going on, family, emergency's. I just want to be kept in the loop. He said that he had lost his phone, and that very well may be the case. So I want to give every chance possible to just give back my part so I can get my boat together, nothing personal as of right now. And as soon as he sees this he's probably going to take it personal, but that's not the case at all, I just need my log
Why does this need to be so difficult Ryan? Screwy
ALL I want is my log back. Are you really saving that much money by not buying another set and just taking mine? It's not about the money to me, it's about the principle. I helped a fellow boater out, and now being screwed out of my parts, makes me want to help out others alot less, which I've helped several on this forum.
Earlier today my brother had called from his phone for Ryan, and left a message with his number. Ryan called back, but as soon as my brother started stating his business (which it is his business as well) Ryan decided to start spouting off and hang up, no call back after a couple more attemps.
But PLEASE just knock this crap out and just give me back my log, and no more of this BS and you won't have to hear from me again,

You can spew all the lies you want Ryan,
The funny part is nothing i have stated is a lie! I think if you read the fine print on what I originally wrote it reads something like "go fock yourself Tony". Im not losing any sleep on this so you can keep trying to turn people against me or whatever you want, no sweat off of my back.

Cool, show your trueself.... I'm glad I helped you out. It's good you are so innocent that you waited 8 months to post anything about it... that really shows an innocent person

i really didnt want to get involved here, but i got a few PM's about this thread and my name was mentioned, so I feel obligated.
Ryan, I like you as a person and have enjoyed hanging out with you at times. I hope you can take the following lightly and it wont effect our friendship.
I really think the actions that you have taken were childish to say the least. To purposly not return a part and avoid calls because you were called out is no excuse in my book.
When I called you, I was just relaying a message that Tony had tried to contact you several times and you wouldnt return his call and he went to the extent of creating a thread on the site which didnt badmouth you, he plainly just wanted his log back, no questions asked.
I dont buy that you were without a phone excuse either. Tony tried several times and you picked up when I called the first time. He said he called you with his number blocked after that and you picked up. Plain and simple, you ignored his calls intentionally.
When I did talk to you, you said you never had any intention to return the log to Tony from the day you borrowed it. I didnt agree with it, but you were going to do what you were going to do.
I personally dont understand what the big deal was. You could have returned the log and avoided all of this, but you wanted to 'spank' him because he was on a mission to track down what was rightfully his.
Also, your several month absense from the site doesnt help your guilt either. I know you said you werent looking for peoples opinion as to you are wrong or right for what you did, but I believe you owe some people here an oppology for your actions. I dont condone these types of actions on my site in any way and I hope to not see it again.
Now Tony - if that was really you trying to steal your log back, I dont agree with that either. I know you were desperate, but there are some loose headed people out there who would shoot you if they saw you in the wee hours of the morning takin wrenches to their boat - myself being one of them.
-
Very well put, Brad. I am a complete outsider on this conversation and as that, can completely agree with not buying the "lost my phone" bs... Sounds like a cowardly cop out to me. His complete absence from this website is a total admittance of guilt. If he wanted to make right, it would have been a piece of cake to make the contacts via this message board and get the person's belongings back to them. Funny how all of the sudden when I PM the guy about if his boat is still available or not, he suddenly reappears. Not to mention PM'ing me back several times about whether or not I am interested in his boat or not. I am staying far away from "Lady Luck" as she is obviously quite the opposite. I do not need a boat with that kind of history when I'm looking forward to being a part of this group over the summer. Only looking forward to good times and need no animosities about the boat I show up with. Cheers!

ryanbrindle...ban him....

worse for him, I think he will be ignored...Character is doing the RIGHT THING when no one is watching...Check your ego, man-up and apologize. After this thread it sounds like it may already be too late, but at least you did the right thing.
-
if you borrow something, you return it when it is asked for, anything other than that and you are in the wrong, no ifs, ands or buts about it.. Is it really that hard of a concept for somepeople to grasp ???
"what really happened"----YOU borrowed something, the person YOU borrowed it from asked YOU to return it, YOU did not (the reason why DOES NOT matter), YOU are in the wrong.....................
-
I really cannot stand childish pissing matches and don't want to get involved, but would like to tell a brief story.
A few years ago (maybe more) I loaned out a custom made set of valve adjustment valve covers for a small Chevy to a guy I worked with, he lived in the Sierras and asked if he could hang on to them for a few weeks, obviously they were not a tool that I was using on a daily basis so had no problem with it...
Well, several months pass and I have not heard from him, I sent him a text message to his company phone and it was undeliverable, he ended up taking a job with another company. :banghead:
I was asking around to try and find him and apparently he found out I was trying to track him down, he calls me at work one day and asked "what's up", so I asked about the covers, He says "holly crap, I forgot all about them", told him "no big deal, whenever you can get them to me", so about a week later he calls me and wants to meet somewhere for lunch, so I meet him and he gives me the covers and apologizes and hands me an envelope and says to open it later, so we have lunch and so on and we go our seperate ways, I get back to my truck and open the envelope and there are two one hundred dollar bills with a card saying sorry and such.
That right there is a stand up guy, so for Christmas that same year, I made him a set of Gen I and Gen II adjustment valve covers and sent them up to him...
I would say that borrowing something should never ever cost a friendship, no matter what...Lifes too damn short and friends too hard to come by.
FWIW and offense intended, you should feel like an ass, someone helped you out and you shit all over him, I bet your the type of person who gets ticked off when someone don't help you out when they have the ability, I wouldn't...

INTEGRITY FIRST, people.
That is a great story GT. Shows that person had good character, morales and practiced integrity. Also says a lot about yourself. I find a lot of respect for two people I don't know out of that story. Thanks for sharing.
-
WOW..I just read this thread....and Im just amazed!! I dont know Ryan nor Tony but I dont really have to know them to know whats right !! If you "Borrow" something the key word here is "Borrow" you give it back !! if you break something while you are borrowing it you fix it or replace it...its not rocket science here !! I work with some of the most unethical, self centered and might I add violent people in the country... this thread has shown me a person who wasnt spanked as a child!! If you have to threaten with violence you have an issue... Thought for the day....If your gonna threaten someone you damn well better know who they really are and where they came from... Semper Fi

Some people just don't know when to quiet down.
Why is somebody with this attitude and anger a member of this board?
Serious character flaws.
-
I am over it and I am sure everyone is tired of reading this. Let it die already.
-
PM's have been exchanged. All involved parties are dropping this. Thanks for everyone's opinions. O0
