Unfortunately when you build and charge for quality components and most people are buying imported low cost parts you can't keep the doors open for very long.  >:(

The worst part is that Crane will not be the last  :'(

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I'm not a genius, but I'm willing to bet a paycheck that within a year you'll see Crane Cams being peddled again but made in China. Someone will buy the brand and proprietary data and make them in China's slave labor camps. Our Government will probably supply the standard no import tarriffs and likely supply federal grants to make it all happen.

Quality will never be the same, however. Same with everything today.

from the SEMA website newsletter....

Last week SEMA eNews reported that Crane Cams had closed operations. Crane's vice president now says the company will restructure and could open within a month.

A week after the Daytona Beach newspaper News-Journal reported that Crane Cams had closed its doors, AutoWeek has quoted Crane Vice President Steve Leva as saying the company planned to reopen within 30 days. All of the company's 280 employees were laid off, with about 25 remaining to work on military contracts, according to AutoWeek.

Crane may have additional incentive to stay in business; Leva notes that $18 million has been invested in equipment since the company's acquisition by Mikronite Technologies Group Inc. in 2006.
