Thanks, John

Thanks for the link.

Are these good ones?

Or are there a better set I should be looking for?

That is a great price on those, if you're in the market for center risers you should be jumping on them! There are better ones out there, but not for anywhere near the money, if money's not an issue then I say give Lightning Headers a call, otherwise call this guy and snatch those up ASAP.

Just got off the phone with him. I'm gonna pick them up.

I know center rise manifolds are pretty rare for the 460. I was just wondering if there are other brands available used that I would be better off getting?

He said the outlet on the riser is 3" and I'm pretty sure my tips are 3 1/2". Do you think I could change the risers to 3 1/2" or 4"?

you shouldn't have any problems with the sizing, the hose will be a little loose on the manifold side, just give it a good tightening and you should be fine, worst case you can always cut some shims out of exhaust hose.  How are you going to get them? I may be heading to Parker next weekend and hooking up with Brad, I could possibly do a relay deal, let me know.

Those were stock manifolds on the Glastron 460's from the 70's.   If I'm wrong I appologize but check out the pics of mine.

That looks like them.

Are they any good for extra hp over logs and snails? Or should I keep looking?

How many different styles/brands are there for the 460?

Electro-

I believe you're right about those manifolds, but I also think they'll flow way better than log type manifolds, plus they're about 1/10th the price of lightining or Eddie brands.

Just the fact that they are built to actually flow will make them better than the logs.

I can't see how they would flow any better than the good logs.  My long bolts have a better angle
and port match up.  (ported now)

They only flow what can fit out the hole and the exits were the same size.

I wish I could say I ran the logs and these manifolds on the same engine for comparison but I didn't.

I had to switch to logs because these WOULD NOT clear the tall valve covers.   I tried spacers but no good.

If you go to these manifolds you will NOT use tall valve covers.

On the plus side they in my opinion sounded deeper than the logs in tone.  I liked that.

Here's a picture of them on the old engine.  Note how close they are to the valve covers.  TIGHT FIT

So do they flow better?  Who knows, they have the same ports, exits and bends as the logs just a different package.

If you do put them on please let us know if you see any differance.

Well I'm running these valve covers. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TFS%2D53411802&N=700+4294908331+4294840123+4294889098+400098+4294919746+115&autoview=sku

So I'm guessing they are not going to clear?

I already have the long bolt logs too. If you don't think I'm gonna gain anything I'm not gonna waste my time. I'll keep looking for a better set. Or maybe run the adapter plates and run some Chevy manifolds.

I'm just trying to get some more power out of it without tearing into the motor yet.

Not a chance they'll fit.   Take a good look at this picture especially on the left side.  It shows best the angle of the stock type valve cover.  Even with a half inch spacer they hit.

Ok well I guess I'll pass on them then. I wasn't really impressed with the design anyways. I really like these http://www.hardin-marine.com/detail~ID~2258.aspx

I just can't justify the cost at this point though.

If I'm gonna change what I have I would like to get something that is gonna improve performance. I was thinking maybe some BBC IMCO's with adapters or something like that. Used of course.

I saw them too.  I tried to find out if they would fit with tall valve covers and never got a reply.
Anyone know if they clear the tall valve covers?

I'm running roller rockers and a stud girdle, low one's won't fit.

Hardin marine claims they clear moroso tall valve covers. Not sure how tall they are.

The tall are I believe pretty much a standard just like the lows.  If the moroso fit I wouldn't
hesitate to use any tall cover.
