Title: A little help for the new guy

Alright guys, I am looking for a little help finding a boat. I have been checking out the classifieds section under boats and projects but not finding exactly what I'm looking for. I've been combing Craigs, ebay, and the boattrader...it must just be the off season? :banghead:

I am trying to find an older boat(70's or early 80's) 18 or 19 ft shallow V. I am not interested in any day or mini day cruisers. I am looking for a full stringer boat and would prefer it has a BBC but will take a BBF, and as for the pump I would prefer a berk. I am open to doing some work on the boat but I don't want a full blown project-I just sold a pre-runner...been there done the big project thing.

I am hoping somebody on here may know of a guy that has something that is not listed on the site or that maybe somebody here has a boat they have been thinking about selling but havn't posted it yet?

I am open to look at almost anything. Thanks for the help guys!

White Trash may soon be on "the block", 1979 Brad Hall  19' bubble deck jet.

The motor has "0" hours on it (just freshened up is all) I may be able to buy back one of my old hulls for $4K, so will need to get close to that but have not decided 100% what I am going to do..Meanwhile I'll keep the balls peeled.

Im selling my project boat for 1500 OBO, It would need an engine and rewiring and the upholstery redonbe, but it has a berk intake in the hull.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate the links. I have already seen most of those ones, I just emailed the guys at JBP yesterday to see if they knew of anything also. All those are pretty close but are not it. As for price range I am looking to spend something around 5k- do you think it can be done?

A good running jet boat can definitely be had for 5K, especially in the dead of winter in this economic climate.  You hold the keys! I'll keep looking for you, where are you located?

nick, look in the crraigslist/spam section on this site. i, aswell as alot of others, post boats up daily that are smokin deals. that would be a good place to look  ;D

Forgot to mention, no longer a JC bowl, now has a double drilled JG bowl, Stainless "A" impeller (GTH) and hardened GTH shaft, Droop Snoot (also double drilled), custom made loader, still has the Place Diverter....

Motor has a Holly Blue fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, 850 DP, MSD Billit distributor, 6AL, Hardin logs, Stainless scoop, Dooley pan w/Moroso windage tray, water side oil cooler, High torque starter and lots of AN crap.

Honestly nick, my priorities were adjusted a wee bit, went over to my grandparents house early this morning and hung out with them for a while, totally set the tone for my whole day, just sort of hung out, washed all the cars, mowed the grass and just never got around to working on the boat, gotta go into work for a couple of hours in the middle of the night, then again tomorrow morning. I will probably get to it tomorrow afternoon, it was nice just hanging around the house today...Been a while.


Any prospects?

I had a jerk that lives next door come over and complain about my dogs barking one time and I asked about their barking dogs.  She said they only bark during the day (guess when I sleep) but I dont care I live in the country (4 acres).  Anyway the next day the animal control guy shows up asking about the barking dogs and asks if I have dog licenses.  I said I sure do but the people that called you and I am filing a counter complaint against them (Jerk is a Cop) LOL!

Anyway, the next day I go and buy 6 roosters that make noise ALL DAY and NIGHT LONG!  I havent heard a word from them in 2 years now!  If I ever do hear from them again, I new Jack is going to have a stall built on their side of the house!

I talked to Johnny ( the seller) he dont know shit about boats or he is playing dumb ???

We agreed it would get picked up tonight, if he sells it to someone else all he has to do is call so we dont waist the gas ;)

this will be my G/F's dads boat, but i will be the one holding the keys >:D

I ended up picking up a boat this weekend.  ;D

1976 Hallet 18' Bubble Deck
460 BBF (stock w/ 533 orignal hours on it)
Berkley Pump (not sure what model yet)

I bought this boat from the original owner, he ordered this boat himself from Hallett in 1976. He said he used it mostly in Havasu and Parker and has since moved up to Tahoe and cannot use it on that lake- He ended up with a pontoon boat. He said that it had not been out in over 2 years. I am giong to have the motor out and in the shop by the end of February.

The boat is a real find, I am stoaked, I will be starting to chip away at my 'to-do' list next weekend, I'll get some pics up at that time too. I am sure I will be posting some WTB adds for BBF parts in the very near future. I am sure I will get to know the ford guys on here pretty quick.

Thanks again for all your help on the search guys. I am really looking forward to posting some good project threads as summer comes closer. And most importantly, I am looking forward to some good SCJB river trips, I hope she'll be worthy.....

My girlfriend and I made a great road trip out of it. We drove through mammoth and visited some friends and stuff. The whole thing was about 850 miles.

And yes, it's the boat beerjet posted up. I will get some better pics later.

JC pump with the older diverter .
Doesnt look like there is much to do to it cept rub on it .

So, what of the JC Pump, I don't think it's the 'the one' to have but is it buildable? Can I put a snoot on it? I know it has a cast impellor, the guy claims it was balance and blue printed "not too long ago" but you know how that goes. I am going to run it for now but would like to know where to start on looking to upgrade it.

Do you have any suggustions?

Do you have any suggustions?

The pump already has one of the best peices you could buy for any jet boat .
The diverter.
Unless your planning on doing some hot rodding , I would run it the way it is .
If your not going to throw a bunch of power at it , droops wedges are waste of money .
Not to mention a tuning disaster .
Then comes shoe's and ride plate and all those variables .

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I plan on getting it all polished up and getting it out to test run within the next few weeks. I will put up some pics next weekend when I get it out to do some work on it.

Dang 2sav, they are really hosin' you man, It's a little too early for me to jump in on the banter but, all I can say is that I hope you have a running boat this summer!

I am looking forward to meeting up with all you guys out at the river sometime this summer.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I plan on getting it all polished up and getting it out to test run within the next few weeks. I will put up some pics next weekend when I get it out to do some work on it.

Dang 2sav, they are really hosin' you man, It's a little too early for me to jump in on the banter but, all I can say is that I hope you have a running boat this summer!
