Title: Looking....
Post by: vwagon13 on March 02, 2016, 09:44:03 PM
Iam "eyeing" this Carrera 20.5' Elite open bow I/O. 502 Chevy BB,roller motor, forged this an forged that, sounds like done right. Brovo  1 outdrive w/ shower, 4 blade SS prop. Sending me the right signals.

Anyone familiar with this type Carrera? I've heard that name here before. I'm just curious for now.

I have an open bow now, had a closed bow before.

What do you want to know?

Very good riding boat, pretty quick. The closed bow had an MPI 375 hp small block with a Bravo I, honest to goodness 75mph boat.

The open bow is a work in progress, 350 hp 350 with an Alpha I drive,  if I get 65 mph out of it I would be stoked.

Not built real well as far as construction,  the interior was heavy as hell.

Typical mass produced boat.

I gave always really liked the lines.

It's a `96. Ask'19k. Too much of course! Whole lot of eye candy. All motor really. Looks good and heavy. It's on Pop Yachts #100010 I think. Broker site. Gt, you've got about the same boat?

Nice looking boat, and solid power plant. Carreras have always been good quality boats IMO, good reputation, great looking style and well performing. You sure about running a prop boat? 🤔

yeah thats a great boat. They ride awesome and with that 502/Bravo and the right prop it should be a solid 75-80 mph boat all day long. And will sip gas compared to an equal jet.

And you can cruise at 50 comfortably getting good mileage.

My dads bahner is a similar designed hull with a built sbc and an alpha 1 she will run in the 75 range but we can literally run all the way from jack smith to havasu springs and back at 50 or so the entire way on one tank round trip

Same boat.

It's a budget build,  it was a recovered theft and was stripped. I have a disc brake,  tube construction Extreme trailer,  all the pieces of trim,  engine,  drive,  most of the interior,  controls etc and I'm in it less than $900.

Going to redo the gel and the seat frames are all cnc cut aluminum.

I'm only about 60% done at this point.
