There's a guy on ebay trying to sell a JC with a diverter for 300.00. I'm waiting to see if he gets any
bids. He said that if he doesn't sell the whole pump, he would consider parting out the diverter.

Shit ! Pick the whole thing up and sell what ever you dont need . Thats my .02

Yeh, Hell beerjet, you're right. Even if the bowl is shot, and the shaft bent, it's woth the price just to pull the diverter off.
-
It is made of aluminum . You can recycle it and BANG ! You got yourself some beer money.

Yeh, I was trying to save on shipping from where the guy lives on the East Coast. It will cost a shitload more to send the whole pump versus just the diverter.

For one reason or another, I've been watching, very closely, place diverter's, droop snoot's, ride plates, stuffer's, pre-loaders, and anything else jet boat related on eBay for at least 6 months. I have 6 different "favorite searches" just looking for a good jet boat part deal on eBay. Me and a couple of hundred other people apparently. Supply and demand my friend...

Yeh, they had a sale a while back for a diverter and manual control for 500.00. My budget is about
half of that. I already sunk a load into the boat, and if I have to go without this season, I'll just wait
until next. I'm not desperate. I still have hopes of this ebay guy parting with his.

Hey beerjet, what's the deal with the decals. I sent Goad an email and haven't heard back from him.
I'd like to get my hands on a couple of them. Do you have an inside track?

I will do that!

Of course the listing says it's cheap, but I have no idea. Theres a NIB Place Diverter with hydraulic controls on eBay for $795 right now.

Yeh, I saw that one. The guy back east on ebay sold his JC pump w/diverter for 383.00. After the
fact he admitted to me that he probably could have gotten more if he had parted it out. Oh well,
you win some, and lose some.

Being an eBay maniac with over 1000 feedback's, one of the best ways to get a smokin' deal on eBay is to buy more than you need and part the rest out.
My personal favorite was when I bought 2 1932 Ford pickup doors for $300 a piece because the seller didn't off shipping. Marcsrollin and I drove up there to pick them up, I think it took us 6 hours or so each way. I took the parts off the doors that I needed, striped and pieced out each door, put each individual part on eBay and offered shipping, and I got about $1,000 for the parts AND got to keep the parts I wanted for my project. I don't think it would be realistic to expect that kind of result for a jet pump and place diverter combo, but it would have been possible to pick that diverter and pieced out the rest to make up most of the difference.
Another great way to pick up parts cheap on eBay is by winning bids on parts that are miss spelled. I got almost the entire front suspension for my '32 by being the winning bidder on a "hot rod front suspention" with no pic in the listing. Whomever saw it probably didn't bid on it because it didn't have a pic. I recieved a '33 front axle, a pair of split wishbones, front spring, '48 juice brakes, and all of the appropriate hangers. I probably saved $500 easy on that one. I've got less than $1,500 in my '32 and I have all of the major parts for it.

i saw an add on craigslist a couple of weeks ago in the phoenix area. It was a deal that was unreal.
It was for a pump that someone took out of a boat and knew nothing about it. It was a complete berk bowl and suction housing with a hydro place diverter (cut lines) for $450. I knew it was probably gone the second he posted it and he didnt offer any shipping either.
I scored some suspension once the same way hotrod, $300 for springs, sway bars, and front lower and upper stress bars.....shipped.
all because he spelled it incorrectly.
do a search for berkley or berkely on ebay....its amazing what you find

"... do a search for berkley or berkely on ebay....its amazing what you find."
It's amazing what some sellers list. The damn Berkeley pump says Berkeley right on it and it still gets mis-spelled. It does take some time to do those mis-spelled type searches, but if you have more time than money...

I don't know if you guys know it or not but for a small fee UPS will go and pick something up for you! Just go to the UPS store and tell them you want to schedule a pick up and give them all the info , then tell the seller to leave it on their porch and UPS will put the label on it and deliver it to you.
I think the fee is like $10 or something like that. I do it all the time on Ebay.

but how do you get the seller to crate it? Most of the time its some schmuck whos too lazy to bother.
-
UMM Yeah I do't think UPS will go to those lenghts.
-
Man, you guys are makin' me cry! Now I feel guilty as hell for not persuing that ebay deal! Believe me,
I've searched berkley, berkeley, jet pump, jet drive, dominator, and anything else relevent on ebay. I'll
just keep looking for the guy who thinks he has a piece of junk. "One man's junk is another man's fortune, or something like that!
-
Thats it . Just keep on keepin on . It'll pop up eventually
