Hello All
The boat does not have an engine in it right now, it had a 454 in it before I bought it.
The tong weight is pretty heavy at the present time since there is no Engine in it now.
I will be putting a Pontiac OHC 6 into it, they were built from 66-69 for Pontiac Tempest and Firebirds.
This engine now is upgraded to a 301 Cu. In., 14.5 Comp Ratio. Hillborn Fuel Injection, Dry Sump Engine, approx. 450-500 H.P.
It has been 169 MPH on the Salt Flats in 32 Roadster belonging to JD Tone.
It was first used on the water by Bud Meyer of Eddie Meyer Racing of North Hollywood, he put it into a HYDRO, showed up at Salton Sea for race season and was protested because of the Over Head Cam, the rule book said no over head "CAMS", Bud said that he only had "One Cam", Singular, on that technicality they had to let him race it.
He raced against a 100% field of V8 Hydro's, they could not catch him in the turns. He WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP THAT YEAR with the OHC 6.
So I think that it is very fitting that it gets back into a BOAT, NOT TO RAISE HAVOC, but for the uniqueness and fun of it being back in a boat.
It weights approx 200 pounds less that a Pontiac V8, not sure about other engines.
I think that it will be a fun project and I plan on having a lot of pleasure enjoying the UNIQUENESS OF IT.
Anyhow, just some update info on my boat and motor project.
Take Care, All
Dusty
