hey everybody , just joined the site and am glad to be here ,. looks like a cool forum with tons of knowledge ;D
i am looking for a water pressure regulator for my 1973 Silverline Aruba GTV Jet boat -Olds 455 . the boat was my dads that he bought back in 73' , from around 2000 till now we have been working on it restoring the entire thing inside and out and he even bought me a paint rig and let me paint a kick azz hockey stripe design on it when i was 16 ,.. 88 stripes total !! hehe :-) .
anyway , back in feb 2012 my dad passed away from lung cancer and i ended up with the boat , it was still unfinished and i had to rewire the entire boat to get it running ,.. i got her making noise and on the water only to find out that i was getting water in the oil , losing oil pressure , and had a broken lifter ,.. so i bought a new cam & lifters , new oil pump , got the motor tore down and out of the boat ready for new gaskets all the way around ,.. so now im looking for a pressure reg to keep my motor happy and i should have this boat finally finished after 12 years of work ,.. so for the long post i just wanted to introduce myself but didnt know what section to post in
BTW if anybody can explain to me in a "caveman way" how to setup the water pressure regulator properly with pissers coming off the motor that would be great ,.. i think i have it figured out but want to double check

Very sorry for your loss. My Father taught me a lot and I still learn from him to this day. You may want to put this in the engine tech section. Also search pluming, water relief.

first sorry for your loss 2nd if you could post pics that would be good I use a ball valve and adjust it till I get my temp right

Terribly sorry for your loss as well.
And welcome!
When I had my pump done by McLure, he told me that from the pressure side of the jet, which is where your cooling inlet us at, jet pressure will reach 150psi. That's far too much pressure to go through your water jacket, given the cap on most radiators give-way at 15-17psi.
Edit: He recommended a gate valve to reduce pressure and increase water temp, like said in previous post.

what it looks like now after i repainted it , we also rebuilt and redesigned the entire interior and intsrument cluster , also got the window frames powdercoated jet black and got deep tinted plexi window 8)
