about a month ago, there was 3 spectra's for sale that more then met the expectations - a day late and a dollar short.

This one's a little above the stated price range, but it's nice and says "OBO"...   ???

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/boa/1049743969.html

That black and grey Eliminator was the '86, seems all the adds don't have a picture anymore.  Looked pretty rough and had some really funky raised steering wheel column...

Here's another one...  Looks a lot like that Spectra '20 "thirst quencher", that was posted on here for sale for $10K a while back...  This one is not restored and is $4K...

I'm trying to go get this one.  It's a 77 Centurion 21' mini day cruiser.  The guy says it has a 402ci Chevy?  Never heard of one personally.  Anyways, he was advertising it without the motor for $2200 and another $2500 turnkey.

[attachimg=#]

I like it a lot and would probably have already bought it, if I didn't have this damn thing around my ankle...  I'm not really allowed to go boat shopping.   >:( >:( >:(

Please don't mistake me for a Chevy guy but I believe that a 402 is just an overbored 396 that GM was using in the low compression HO motors like the Firebirds and trucks of the late 70's to early 80's.   Pretty common actually.

Good luck on the search Brad.   I am having a lot of fun with my big tug boat, but I am still not used to being able to cruise over some of the real shallow spots like I did with my 18er.

Oooohhh.... I like that first Spectra a lot.  Looks a lot like the one, I forget who, just bought from Tom at JBP...  Nice boat.  The second Spectra is only asking $4300, typo in your notes Brad.  That Kinsvater looks like a bad ass boat (even though it has a stepped deck), it's been for sale on CL for at least 2-3 months, dude's never budged on the price.

the 402 is a "mistake" from chevy....its basically a slightly over bored 396 that they decided to build up instead of throwing away.  if my facts are correct there are only a handfull of them and most of em found there way into boats.  some into rv's.  my friend had one in his v drive.  after a little work and about 2500 bucks, it would run at 7k all day with an honest 500 hp.  ill stick to my true big block. i could be completely wrong but this is what i was told.  im going off someone elses bs if thats the case lol

My dad had that a 78 challanger that was nearly identical to that one for 28 years! It was a very strong hull, never let us down. I think thier "day cruiser" models we built stronger than their 18's.

no responce on the challenger yet.

so far, most of the boats when i ask for more pics, the ugly REALLY comes out.....they always pick the best angles to post.....then you see the other side or the interior up close and...BARF.

That '75 Hallett looks pretty nice... Other than the fact it has an Olds...  The Hallett with the pregnant wife is one of my favs so far (other than the green interior)...  That Kachina is pretty decent too...

that hallett with the prego wife is a disaster for what they are asking....i love the hull, but it needs a TON of work....the carpet is ripped up....interior is destroyed....radio looks like it got jacked at some point....its been rode hard and put away wet.

if it was about $1500 less and i had the time and money to go through it and give everything it needed, i would do it. its the same hull as beerjet's orange cruiser....i love that hull.

Is that the one I referred you too Brad?

Also, I am not sure where you live but I'm in Orange County and a neighbor of mine has had a boat out in front of his house with a for sale sign on it since before the holidays. I'll do my best to descirbe it (from what I can see when I drive by) and you let me know if you want me to go by and talk to the guy.

21 Jet, Tandem axle trailer, mostly white with blue strips around the rubrail and along the bottom that are about 2" wide (typical late 70's paint job) but good colors. Big bubble deck style (only one step in it) Mini-day cruiser look, NO bow rails. Needs some love, last price that was on his sign was 3500, but like I said it's been up since last year, so he may be desperate.

It looks A LOT like that challanger that was in this thread a day or two ago but the color sheme is a bit different.

So that being said, do you want me to go by and check it out? I know nothing more that what I've told you, so if you want more I gotta go by his house.

Lemme know.

I live in Nor Cal but am moving to the OC... Had my Uncle go check it out and click some picks for me.  It was on Craigslist a while back, last I saw it posted was in the middle of Feb and advertised at $2500...  Talking to him he said he'd settle for $2K...  But if it's still available he may take less by now.

Had gone through a divorce and says, "The boat brings back bad memories of my wife and kids."

Just got a call back from the guy.

He said hes the 2nd owner...bought it from a chiropracter friend of his about a year ago....he doesnt know much about boats in general so the description was vague. He said he was going to give the original owner to see where the boat was services (possibly cyclone speed and marine)...so i could get some additional info on it.

i know its at least got a split bowl pump on it because he said "they protracted the pump and put an angel in it so the boat would ride better"

check out this beast
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/boa/1070727641.html

I know it ain't a BBC/BBF but if yer gonna go big, why not go for the one that really has some "useful" space under the deck?  The interior is updated and it looks to be in good shape all around.  The price is certainly right too. I'm just saying . . .

You know what they say     Go Big or Go Home    O0

i understand what youre saying, but its a bit too big...maybe too big for a jet...it would take a lot of power to push that thing around.

it does have 3 strikes against it....bow rail....455..and jacuzzi

the southwind so far is a perfect match

OK I get the 455 thing but Jacuzzi vs. Berk  ain't much different.   And just what is the problem with the bow rails?  You never explained that one.   I'll tell you what, when you are trying to load one of these beasts on a trailer in a current or a wind, you are real glad for something to hang on to.  Plus they keep the drunk chicks from sliding off the deck.  ;D

i dont hate bow rails or have anything against them, its just my personal preference....i am looking for a clean looking boat...i my ideal boat would be capped, no bulky hardware like tie down cleats, bulky lights, bow rails, etc. ...its just my personal preference, there are plenty of gorgeous boats (like yours) that have bow rails and would probably look funny without them.

I do.  It's my favorite so far, but it's just a little bit out of my price range.  Has a new 502 BBC, 530hp on the dyno, berk pump, place diverter, new interior (obviously), new gauges.  The guy said he needs the room for other toys and isn't very willing to negotiate on the price... Said he advertised it last year at $13 something  :screwy:.  He was firm on his $7,500 asking price.  Wish I could get him to come down at least $1500, more like $2k.  The hunt continues....    :-\
