I'm looking to add reverse to my vdrive, interested in either a trans setup or just a gearbox with reverse. Willing to trade my in out gearbox if needed. Also have Hardin marine olds manifolds and maybe a few other olds parts.

Have you investigated a Borg Warner Velvet Drive? I just sold one a few months ago for $200.
I find them all the time. Work slick as hell.

No but I will look into it, thx

Oldsmobile parts, like what? Thanks

Let me double check the shed, I know I have Hardin marine manifolds, should have a water pump plate and front and front and rear mounts ( plate for front of engine and bell housing both aluminum).

So, What hull do you have?
In the few I've driven, reverse is for 'dock avoidance', or Forward/Brakes, at best. Steering in reverse? Not gonna happen.
I thought reverse in a jet was horrible, especially with a ride plate, but it's great compared to a v-drive or inboard.
I'd save the coin from re-rigging with reverse, and get a good paddle. Plus the weight, figure 150+ lbs.
However-
Velvet Drive trans have better reverse gear ratios than a powerglide (1.76:1) or TH400 (2:1)

It's a 66 Byers flat bottom. Interested most in it for "brakes" and use around the dock more than anything else
