Title: WTB: Swim Steps / Platform
Post by: Brad @ SCJB on May 26, 2009, 12:13:51 AM
looking for a wood swim step. i would prefer 1 single wide one....but will entertain the idea to go with 2 seperate ones.

the width of my boats transom is about 6'....the only 1 piece ones i can find that are new are about $500 from west marine.

I dont want plastic, fiberglass or billet ones.....must be wood (teak)

thanks!

I have a buddy with an outdoor furniture shop, I will ask if he still makes them, he has made these for us in the past.

Bear in mind, the wood is very expensive..

$500 may not be too bad  :-\

i can find used single platforms on ebay for about $100, but they are for arched (curved) transoms.

They are typically bolted together using threaded rod (also called thread all, or all thread), have you considered modifying one?, That's how I roll. I have some random pieces of teak, maybe it could be done on the cheap... ???

Brad  I have 4 S/S transom Brackets you can have if you want to order the wood and make them yourself.

so i figured out that a swim platform wont work without reconfiguring my pump setup for a low profile setup like PD sells.

so im in search for 2 swim steps....with or without brackets...let me know what you have! thanks!

I was gonna recommend that, especially with as much up angle you have on that diverter and pump. My one pice swim deck needs some serious modifications to clear the reverse cable it has already fugged up on mine.
