Anyone got some BIG sounds?
« on: February 15, 2014, 04:03:13 PM »
Starting the audio system while waiting on the motor. All going in my 21' open bow. 6 Polk audio 6x9's, 1 set of Polk audio 6 1/2 components. 1-13"jl w3, Sony deck with separate sub control. 1- old school planet audio Real 600 watt amp bridged to sub. ADS pq10 will send about 50watts to each mid. In my last boat I had half this stuff and was always one of the loudest cleanest sounding floats around. Hoping to actually out do myself. >:D back in the day ( early to mid 90's)I did DB drag racing. Hoping to put the wake barge boats to shame! Got the batteries ran off a solenoid so when the key is off the start battery is automatically put on reserve. When engine is running it automatically charges both.no switch to have to remember after frivolous consumption of boat sodas.Using interstate group 27 batts. 2 right now.may add another in line with the stereo batt.depends on how long it lasts?  8)

Sounds like a good  setup, never been a fan of sony myself, but they used to have a marine deck the you could put your ipod inside.

That is a lot of system! Last year I ran across a 86 closed bow Bahner that had 6 Alpine 6x9, 2 JL 12w7's, not sure about amps, and three batteries. Needless to say it was loud, and that boat was pretty quick too.

1967 18' spectra. Pioneer deck, clarion eq, kicker 700.5 amp, polk sr 10 subwoofer, 4 kicker 6x9. All ran via Bluetooth off iPhone. 35 feet away from the boat and I can still change volume and song. Downloaded a app that allows me to broadcast my signal to other I phones. This summer we will have 5 boats all with similar setups synced to the same playlist. Should be loud!!

Usually run alpine. Bought the sony on sale for my sport fisher and was shocked at how good it sounded just running off the the deck. Has a dash mounted remote on the flybridge that was a bonus. Ended up buying the same deck for the jet boat just cause I liked it so much.got the iPod stashed away warm and dry but can still control it off the remote.also not really a huge fan of the Polk audio stuff just got a deal on all new speakers.

Alpine head unit with iPod hook up....two rockford fosgate amps a 10" L7, 4....6x9 and 2....6.5 at the open bow pass threw. It's super clear bass hits hard as hell and it's loud. Best decision ever to spend the $$ on amps they where pricey but well worth it.

Kenwood h/u Kenwood components and amp for comp speakers two 6x9 and two 6.5 pushed by 600w

Two 10" JL W0 and 300w JL amp for the subs. Works well and it sounds like I spent more than I did.

Good 6x9s and 6.5s need a lot of power to sound right.

My float is a 73 and drive inns were being used back then so when I am at sandbars/beaches I will hang em on my ski pole to get the sound to travel farther...I have $300 mb quart's inside. I like the nostalgia... I have a bumper car striker on top of my flag pole as well.

Been at it since about noon today. Ran almost 200' of 16ga. Speaker cable. One run of 10ga.cable for the sub. Holes cut in the front.( that was nerve wracking making sure they were even). 4ga. Power and ground Ran from battery to distribution blocks.1 amp mounted. Most speakers installed. Just gotta mount the other amp, wire up deck, mount the rest of the speakers. 11 speakers total around 1000 real watts. Should sound real, real, niiice!

Taco'd "a person or people that show up with one lake lice and a family of 50 and cram 3 people at a time on it with no disregard to boating rules or ethics. Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."
