so i baught some pretty sweet JBL Marine 6x9s to replace the shot speakers in the back of my boat..the ones that are in the boat are like a 5x7 or something like that..these 6x9s are much bigger for the holes that are already cut into my interior..is the sound going to be that much better out of these 6x9s to enlarge the holes and have those big ass speakers back there?? i have a 10"sub under the bow so im not couting on these for all of my bass..i also have a pair of mids under the bow as well..so there is alot of speaker in this boat..

since i already have them here i was thinking to just do it...but what are your guys thoughts??

 

6x9 is a good beater speaker....just cap the bass off to them. They should handle what you throw at them but you might not get the same quality as a 6 1/2 sep. If you have some work working skills...you could make a spacer for the 6x9 to reduce to the 5x7 hole and retain the original holes(screws/speaker).

ill post a pic up later but that would be a total eye sore..these things are in my interior and are in your face when your looking at the boat..which is why i got new ones..if i had wood working skills ide have no issue altering these into the place i need..i dont think it will be an issue just figuered i would make sure im going to make the change for the better
