Wanted to say thanks to all the SoCal peeps for their hospitality and allowing me to steal some shade at Saturdays races, had an absolute blast and enjoyed meeting everyone, I have over 150 pics. I still need to go through but had to get this one up, I will be getting the shots edited and posted as soon as I get a couple of minutes to myself, literally just walked in the door.

And as far as the water conditions, that was some of the smoothest water I have ever seen ;)

This is all I got since I once again forgot my camera at home . Mama did manage to get the footage of my solo wreck on my buddies camera but it's just a huge splash .

I'm pretty sure the damage was caused when I slammed into the gunnel , I dont know for sure , Nick says he got a pretty good view . Already lookin for a new hull. I know I wasnt the only one who incurred damage . I'm just glad everyone is OK this weekend .

So what happened with Brad gettin her up on the rocks?

heres the video....it was either hit nick (cj222) or put it on the rocks. as you can see where nick landed, it would have been fatal.

Wow.......We were on the "in" ramp and didn't see the "on the rocks" incident. But now, thanks to modern gagets, like the video, we get to see it from a different perspective...( we don't get instant replays of the ones we see as they happen).....That could have been very ugly. Boats can be fixed or replaced. You can not replace a person. I'm hoping the trip to the ambulance for Nick was for scrapes and bruises and nothing serious. I didn't get to check out the 410 boat. I heard the rocks were not kind to it. Again, glad no one was seriously hurt, and all involved will return to race again another day............Ray

That was insane, both you and Nick are very lucky. Nick should be thankful that you didn't run him over and you should be thankful that you didn't get pitched out onto those rocks.

you have no idea how thankful i am for the way it turned out. yeah, the boat is really beat up, but it could have been worse.

Brad

I know I told you in the pits but I want all to know you did a great job keeping the carnage to a minimum.  It's a shame that some one can't keep in his lane in the first turn and forces everyone behind him to just try to survive.  Ralph & Harold had no where to go but through his roostertail at short range and everyone else was jambed to the out side.  With Nick not seeing anything due to the white out it's easy to see how the spin started.  Some one should look into the affects of a jet boat using only a rudder to turn the boat.  It seems to me that with the fixed nozzle in the turn it makes for a very wide no-mans-land behind him and he takes up much more than one lane.  It works well and I'll give that to him but I think it's possibly unintended results is lane blocking! His path through turn one was definitely not by the rules I know of. As a result (in my opinion) the one guy that caused the problems was the one who got to take a victory lap, very unfair and it should have been protested.

Toby (cj53) wasnt aware he was the cause of the incident until he was back on the trailer after the heat, and knowing toby, if he knew, i dont think he would have taken that vicotry lap....

he came up to me and apologized.....i am not or was never mad or upset with him....its boat racing and we all make mistakes and learn from them.

Nick, im glad youre doing ok....im a bit sore in my upper back.

thanks for the kind words.... there is nothing you can do to prepare yourself for something like that.

With all that splashing of white water and the way Nick ended up facing the rocks when it all ended, it sure seemed like it was more than a 180*.  I am glad to hear that everyone is ok.

Just remember guys this is a professional sport.  I'm really happy that all of you seem to be good friends off the track.  But being pros you have to drive like pros and you have to follow the rules of racing like pros and you have to man up like pros. If done so the class will do well.  Many aspects of CJ class @ Long Beach were very well done.  But gaining the respect of the other racers through your actions and the way you drive on the course will pay off in spades.  I did hear a story yesterday that someone was berating the jet class on the ramp and an SS driver shut the guy up and said that CJ drivers are more courageous than anyone else in the pits.  Point well taken, take that respect and groom it so that everyone on the beach knows it.
