1969 Wriedt Stinger
« on: April 11, 2010, 07:48:41 PM »
I am very proud of my cousin because after over 3 years....this project is completed.

Him and I started this project with absolutely no idea what we were getting into. Him and I have been around boats our entire lives, but never really worked on them. We dove in head first and were in very deep before we knew it.

Project Thread: http://www.socaljetboats.com/projects/project-wriedt-stinger/

The following was done to this boat:

  • Replaced the transom wood
  • sanded and smoothed out 40 years of scratches and dings
  • reworked the entire trailer - paint, lights, bearings, bunks, etc
  • brand new gelcoat
  • new rubrail
  • new tanks
  • new carpet
  • rebuilt pump
  • pretty much new top end on the motor
  • new gauges

There are a few minor things that need to be done to finish it up, but for the most part, its completed.

Gelcoat was done by Orange County Boat Repair and the Pump was done by MPD

Great job on never giving up and completing this beautiful project Kyle.

That is the coolest little boat I think I have ever seen...

Please have your cousin do one small thing for me though..... :-\

Route the ignition wires Corvette style (under the manifolds), then I think it would be complete.... ;)

You have done that boat very, very proud... 8)

it ran solid with no issues at all.....we launched at windsor and it was windy as hell....so we headed up river to the sand bar. then we figured it would be a bad thing to get caught up there as the wind was getting worse so we headed south down to the channel and just people watched and stayed out of the wind. As you could imagine, he got lots of positive comments.

It handles great....takes the chop real well. its a fun little boat for sure

I saw the boat this weekend in person and the pics just dont do it justice its super clean. I agree with Beerjet on the scoop though. I have an old Edelbrock 2 piece scoop from the 60"s on my boat that would go perfectly on yours. If you want to check it out let me know. Matt
