1985 Advantage
« on: July 06, 2015, 10:33:56 PM »
Well, I sold the Bubbledeck over the weekend and picked up this family hotrod today. It's a 1985 Advantage 20' with a 454 and Berk JG. I'll post better pics tomorrow.

Nice Advantage/Rogers.

The Rogers hull is what sold me on the boat. This is the first Advantage version of the Bonneville Classic that I've seen. I'm excited to see what the boat can do. It has a not-so-stock 454 and all the goodies on the pump.

Maybe some of you guys can give me insight into the motor. A compression test prior to purchase yielded an even 180psi in all cylinders.  The prior owners kept great records of any work done to the boat which included receipts and flow sheets from the engine builder.

Harry used that mold until 88 or 89. Then Roger pulled it back.

Is this the same bottom as the 19' Bonneville TR? I thought I read that on the forums somewhere.

Clean looking boat Jordan!  :thumb up: I love gray gel on a boat.

Congrats.

Similar with the drop chines, but the strakes are much larger.
Roger told me "the 20 has a faster bottom than the 19"
But it's also carrying more weight.

Berkeley recommends 90wt gear oil to lube the bowl, but for some reason mine has a zerk and is full of grease. Why would someone run grease instead of gear oil? I assume it's fine since the boat has been setup this way for ten years.
