I am jealous as all hell. I can confidently say that's one of the nicest themed Jet Boats I've seen on the internet. Everything Proppy did to it went extremely well with each other..... Wish I had some cash for it

Yea, everybody here knows that boat, and its issues.  The boat had run over 120 mph, acording to its former owner before me (Busby). Heres a shot of it on the water.

its for sale

Its been for sale on here and on PB for a long time.  I needed to get rid of it to start another project.

whats the issues??

Porpoises at cruise speed.  It settles down nice at full throttle and takes a nice set, but it needs adjustable plates (down pedal), or something to calm it down while cruising (more then the diverter can do).  It only wants to go fast.  Might be able to solve it by moveing some weight around (motor forward or back), but I didnt get that far with it.  I had to decide what boat would get the money / time and the Daytona won.

What are you trying to say? Propless is shady? Busby is shady? Maybe you should make yourself a little more clear before you go pissing people off.

The top and bottom where NOT split and the tape was NOT there to cover up an issue like that !!!   Busby had the boat capped when it was painted, before I bought it and he had red/orange/yellow tape stripes on it.  I didn't like the color choice.  I pulled them off and they took some of the paint off with them.  That's why it had the black/blue stripes on it.  This was all explained to the person I sold it to, maybe you should talk them if you have an issue with the boat.

BTW.  That hull was completely glassed together on the inside of the seam from the factory, and was very strong.  If there is currently any cracking around the seam I wound bet its only the cosmetic filler from the cap job.  I have no idea how it was done, but its not uncommon for them to crack if they just used filler to do it.

Also, I think everyone here knows, if I saw any cracks on that boat I would have had no second thoughts about grabbing a grinder and fixing it, no matter what it took.  That boat was my baby, the ONLY reason I sold it was because I wanted a tunnel.

I've been thinking about this all day and its been pissing me off more and more that someone would come on here and imply that I tried to cover up a "split" boat with electrical tape and knowingly sell it that way.

I promise that the boat was NOT cracked when those stripes went on it, they where NOT there to cover up anything other then the yellow primer.  The cap job may have cracked during use when I had it, I didn't pull the stripes off it to inspect it before I sold it because I had no reason to think there was anything wrong with it.  But that boat was not "split" !! The boat was painted and capped way back in 1999/2000 when Busby owned it.  It never saw water until I finished it last year.  I had that boat in the water a total of 5 times (had motor problems almost every time) and never had it over 65mph.  I suppose there's a chance they just used bondo or that kitty hair stuff to fill the seam (I have no knowledge of how it was done).
Again, pulling off the red/orange/yellow stripes and doing the blue/black stripes was one of the FIRST things I did to that boat.  And I saw NO cracks at that time.

papaletch, I'm sorry that you are having to spend money redoing the cap job, because I heard you paid ALOT more for it then I sold it for. But I didn't cap the boat and I didn't try to cover anything up with tape !!!!  I always do my best to describe any issues with anything I sell.  That's why it took me so long to sell that boat, I told everyone that was interested in it about it's really annoying porpoising issue.

I don't think ANY of us here think you did anything wrong, Jeff!

This is apparently 3rd hand information, from what I can understand of this, "Someones brother of an ex-girlfirends sister's boyfriend bought......and three owners later......."

It was a beautiful boat when you built it. If the clown you sold it to messed it up, or sold it to someone else that did, or broke it, then sold it to this guy, why's that you're fault?  Could very well be the boat HAS indeed broken, but it wasn't YOU or BUSBY's fault there. Beleive me, I've hit rollers I thought I'd break Moo's and Pickles bow completely off! (Knocked a part of Pickles rub rail off at Bartlett not that long ago)

Sounds like the middle mans fault! Just thinking out loud....Don't get an ulcer over this! You cannot control what happened to this sled after you sold it!

It does make me think hard though.........I mean, years from now, hopefully, when and IF I ever sell Moo and anyone asks the same question, OBVIOUSLY, gonna point to me! Think about it!

Well since he didnt put a name to the person he thought is at fault, why is everyone getting so upset?  From what I read he was just describing what the problem looked like to him if there even is a problem.  Have a nice day! :screwy:

Leadsled, The thing is I spent over a year working on that boat because I never had plans of selling it (I even put my screen name on it).  I'm the one that put the tape stripes on it he was referring to.  And I did my best to make that boat nice.  I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way for him to post that the way he did, Implying that the stripes I put on there where there to cover up a known problem.
When it comes down to it, all anyone has is there reputation, being an honest guy or shady.  In my quest for my perfect boat, Ive sold or gotten rid of 5 boats and lots of parts and always done my best to let the buyers know of any and all issues with what there getting.  Heck, I even cut one boat up and disposed of it because I believed it was only good for "yard art".  The last thing I want is for anyone to think I would do something like he was implying.

Proppy,

I would not take any offense at the poorly executed post. I think I speak for everybody here when I say that you would probably cut that boat up into little pieces before you would sell somebody something that had a major issue such as a separation issue.

We have seen the efforts and time that you put into that boat, personally I wanted to see you kick it's ass and get it figured out, but at the same time, I understand why you would step into a different project like you have.

I think personally there were probably some stress cracks in the cap caused by god knows what and it was misstated that it was separating. Either way, none of your doing...

Take some pride in what you have done with that old boat, what you did with it was nothing short of miraculous...

Hope to see you soon. BTW, my garage is "almost" clean but am still buried in boat stuff... :screwy:
