Eliminator Daytona
« on: July 13, 2010, 12:02:50 PM »
It's been awhile since I posted here. I picked this up a few months back and just doing a little work here and there. Pretty much stock 454 with a berkeley pump. I took it to Vic's shop last night for a bit of impeller shaving.

I just wanted to say thanks again for your help the other weekend when my tire blew out on the freeway! When are you headed out to the river?

No problem, just a good thing I flipped around on you guys.
All I wanted to do was check out the boat too. Just remember that the speedo on my car read 70mph.  ;D

I went Monday, I'm going tomorrow and I'll be back on the 23rd.

hey marc, I have a question for you. I went out today for some testing and kept on woundering why I kept hitting 4500 and it wouldn't budge anymore. I pull up to the shore and check the carb. I disconnected the cable and pulled the cable bracket on the carb, and it's maxxed out, not allowing it to go anymore. The carb is a 4150 double pumper 750 cfm Holley. It hasn't been rebuilt in the three years that I've had it, so I'm thinking I either need to or get a better carb. I have a pretty much stock 454 with a 282 crane cam and flat top pistons.

What adjustments do I need to do to open it up more.  Thx

Depending on what impeller you are running...4500 out of a stock 454 sounds about right to me.

well my little problem was solved. whoever had the carb before i got ahold of it, screwed it up. the secondaries wouldn't open and primaries were maxxed out at the current WOT. i picked up a new carb and fuel system, so it should really open now. i have a bronze b/c cut impeller with inducer, ect.. so it should work a lot better now. the only thing i have to do is hide the bank statement from my wife.  ;D

Danny, glad to see you guys made it home safe. It was a bummer for the park ranger to stay in one spot. i tried calling the other patrol guys, but I did not see them on the water and I didn't have signal on my cell till fishers landing. it was good seeing you guys again, and remember you guys are welcome to stay at my house anytime. next boating season starts in march.  ;D ;D
