If it sat for a long time it might just be condensation, or maybe it ingested some water through the cab while sitting. Water was on the bottom of the pan, looked good until you started it :-\
Change the oil and run it on a hose.

bullhead city code for "i got the rocks and sack of weed, meet ya at walmart at 3pm by the hand towels"
OK heres the deal.....
the way i see it, i have 2 options to get this boat on the water quick...
options.
1. Buy another engine ( found one here locally for $1300 complete drop in and go)
2. Drop in the Ferd , which would mean changing the set up buying new exhaust and so on.........
OR yank this bitch, tear it down and see where we stand.... before you say dont tear it down, it made one hell of a sound before shut down.........Metal to metal squeal..
This is why im looking into another engine, i found one here by my pad. this guy is building it for a boat ( he has no boat )
Its standard 2 bolt main with cast pistons , new bearings/rings, Comp 292 cam/lifters, Edelbrock intake/carb closed chamber heads.. just need to add the oil pan and oil with all the goodies i have now, break the cam in and send my G/F's dad on his way.. Remember HE IS PAYING FOR THIS $HIT not me!! i have my own boat to pay for :banghead:
This engine in the Eliminator is a Hardin marine block with 990 heads that i want to keep and build for a spare Eventually ;D
So am i crazy or does it sound like a plan ??? I would LOVE to finish my boat this decade
Allow me to be the voice of reason, yeah I know whatever, there is no such thing as a "drop it in and go", tear down what you have and scope it out, IMO you may be money ahead and have less problems than buying someone elses headache, just my .02 cents, been there and done that at least twice, I guess you could say I don't trust anyone, but "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me"..
GT
Besides, it doesn't cost anything to tear it down to see what happened. Then you can make an educated decision.
Your right, it dont cost me anything but more time on someone elses boat..
I guess i will see you guys next year

I would be giving the seller a visit.
rectally insert broken parts.
walk away.
i assume you met up with the guy somewhere other then his home.......didnt give you a bill of sale? is/was the boat registered under his name still?
if so, DMV lookups are public record. obviously if he is hiding like he is, he knows hes guilty.
sounds sooper shady. good luck with the new motor 2 sav. when you getting it?
Sending the G/F's dad for it ;D

Not in Cali. , just so you know... ;) Maybe in AZ ? :-\
unless this is something new....i have to disagree....i've done it before.

So THAT"S how they make metallic paint! Always wondered..... lol
Honestly though, If you filter all that out through a coffee filter (COuld take months), I'll bet you get enough material outta that to cast a new piston.........
Ray
That engine is completely torn down and waiting for me to rebuild it as my next Ford KILLER
you don't even have A running ford killer yet :banghead:, lets not get ahead of ourselves there buddy, one step at a time, finish the boat, then sneak up and wip some ford ass ;D
The March Mead trip is coming soon, get together and bring it out ;D
Seems like if you spent as much time wrenching as you do typing these threads, you'd have all four of them done by now...(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fusversusthem.files.wordpress.com%2F2007%2F10%2Fowned.jpg&hash=a548f42b10df24e386aa20ab8fee44f6501fcd9d)
He's working on someone else's boat all day tomorrow and that makes him closer to having his own boat finished??? :screwy:
Sounds a little fishy to me.
People say you keep getting a little closer with each project to actually finishing one. Seems like if you spent as much time wrenching as you do typing these threads, you'd have all four of them done by now...
Hey Steve.... I'm Ken... I may be new to this site but I know a lot more SHIT than you think.
My apologies though, I wasn't trying to piss you off. Just having a little fun on the boards. I see what's going on here with all your different projects and willingness to give up when you run into a snag. So forgive me for being a new member on the site. I wasn't trying to burst your bubble, just to spice things up a little bit. Ahhh, the sweet smell of success... Maybe you'll smell that smell someday. ;)
Good job 2sav, looks like your going to have a couple boats to choose from this summer. ;)
it doesnt matter 2sav it looks like things are falling in place for you buddy...good to see the head wind you are making, and working on your father in laws boat is just practice for yours...you know it all started when you got your original name back! just get her done and enjoy the summer in your boat, but if yours isnt running i would suggest getting this thing out to the mead meet...did your FIL take the advice of getting everything needed such as the diverter cable and reverse cable and the odds and ends you need to button his ship up?
congrats steve, i am happy to see you making such good progress, keep it up and you will be killen fords before you know it ;DBRING IT LOL might help you get yours done Steve.
guys i wanna say he is probably backing the boat into the river and keeping it on the trailer....but maybeeeeee if the water is high he will do a river test, besides there is always katherines landing...GOOD LUCK STEVE
Have Ray weld up your weep holes ;)
How was the water temp?
Ray
I mean the temp in the engine, lmao, what is this, full moon pick on ray day? C'mon, lol I got the Moo boat fired this afternoon, give me a lil break, lol
That WAS funny Terry, almost as funny as I blindly called around for a carb reverse kit, rofl. My friends here get a Hoot from that!.
Ray
What header valve are you running? Sometimes the water pressure "pulses" and can pass the ball and get water to the headers at idle, is it possible the seat of the valve is damaged? does it have the right spring? did you blow through it before you installed it? why is the sky blue? ;D
The water dump would be of larger concern to me, it sounds like you have a restriction somewhere causing the pressure to be relieved into the headers, just an out loud thought.......(there should always be water blowing overboard)
GT
If your spring is upside down the ball will fit inside it...........no BS. You'll spring reversal tool.
I bought new ball and springs for both boats.. Im pretty sure i put them in right , but monday were gonna do it again so i will double check that ;D
Ok, you wont need the tool this time but seriously if you look at the spring it's slightly bigger at one end. If it's in backwards it'll be in the spring when you take it apart.
Ok, I just went out and looked at a new Hardin spring and ball kit hangin on the wall and the ball end has two tight windes on it.
Terry, STOP IT!
ROFLMFAO
Ray

lol, that wasn't the joke in that, the joke was the reversal tool, lol
Ray
I sent a guy to the parts store for 6 volt metric battery water one time and they sent him somwhere else.
It's all in fun, if I didnt like ya I'd just say fuc u and not tell ya nothin.
Speaking of which, and sorry to thread jack you Steve
Ray
Terry had me calling Summit, Jeg's, PAW and Loper's looking for a Carb Reverse kit! LMAO The prick got me hook line and sinker!
Luv ya Terry
Ray
Ok got the Eliminator wet today , but not without some issues.
#1. Lots o water coming out the weep holes at idle (installed a new ball /spring prior )
#2. it takes a while to get the water to come out the dump unless you rev it to 2K then its fine for awhile and then stops ???
#3.so far no oil in water.
This has a pressure reliefe valve so i open the gate valve full , and i get the rpm's up to see if its working or not and its just a drizzle. i think it starts to dump at 25 psi which i thought was a little high? Or maybe i am ;D
Boat ran strong , really responsive and smooth.. Just need to get the plumbing issues worked out...
Any idea's ???
Way to go Steve!!!!! Shoulda hollered I'da come down. We were shacking down Brads cruiser on mead. Nice day....naked boobies at Sandy
that was pop in laws, i thot it was his too for a sec. But hey, he 'bout built that one too
Too bad he wont be able to keep up with me >:D
When you're running with him you need to think about that, because if you beat up on him too bad, you might end up working on the Eliminator even more (to make it faster). :'( ;)
Congrats steve, I know its not "Yours" but either way you got a boat on the water!
Bring it down to Parker this weekend and my cheap ass will by you a drink.
Mark, where's your cooler? ;D
