OK heres the deal.....

the way i see it, i have 2 options to get this boat on the water quick...

options.
1. Buy another engine ( found one here locally for $1300 complete drop in and go)
2. Drop in the Ferd , which would mean changing the set up buying new exhaust and so on.........

OR yank this bitch, tear it down and see where we stand.... before you say dont tear it down, it made  one hell of a sound before shut down.........Metal to metal squeal..

This is why im looking into another engine, i found one here by my pad. this guy is building it for a boat ( he has no boat )

Its standard 2 bolt main with cast pistons , new bearings/rings, Comp 292 cam/lifters, Edelbrock intake/carb closed chamber heads.. just need to add the oil pan and oil with all the goodies i have now, break the cam in and send my G/F's dad on his way..  Remember HE IS PAYING FOR THIS $HIT  not me!! i have my own boat to pay for :banghead:

This engine in the Eliminator is a Hardin marine block with 990 heads that i want to keep and build for a spare  Eventually ;D

So am i crazy or does it sound like a plan ???  I would LOVE to finish my boat this decade

Allow me to be the voice of reason, yeah I know whatever, there is no such thing as a "drop it in and go", tear down what you have and scope it out, IMO you may be money ahead and have less problems than buying someone elses headache, just my .02 cents, been there and done that at least twice, I guess you could say I don't trust anyone, but "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me"..

Hey ya'll, new member here.  This is my FIRST POST!  Moving down to SoCal in May from the Bay Area and am in the market for a new tow.  Currently looking at a '73 Kona with a 468 Olds, it looks pretty cherry for $4K, any feedback would be appreciated.   8)

My real dream though, would be to find this boat...  My pops sold it around '93  :banghead: in Anaheim Hills.  It's an Eliminator, I think around an '83 with a tunnel rammed BBC... I LOVED THIS BOAT!   ;D

Please, has anybody seen it around, is it still alive?  I want it back!  We used to frequent Lake Elsinore, Perris and the river.  It's name is "Bad Attitude", painted on the transom with an airbrushed hand giving the "bird".  Please, someone tell me if you've seen this boat around.  Thank you!  Ken

Well here it is so far, they said  they spent 3K in the top end :screwy: Maybe spent money but no way 3K
I think this is the reason they had the top end done. looks to have dropped a valve or maybe lost the timing chain ???
These are rebuilt heads.

The piston

Look at the cylinder.

Piston is about ready to let loose.

Does this look right, the sides of the lifters are getting chewed up I think the cam was walking

Bad pick .

if so, DMV lookups are public record. obviously if he is hiding like he is, he knows hes guilty.

Brad honestly , if i was there to take posession(sp) of the boat, it would still be there. Im not sure where he picked it up at, but he said he's going back to the house, i told him not to till he cooled down... We dont need him going back to prison over something stupid.

he has a bad atttitude sometimes, now i know where my g/f get it from ;D

2sav, I think this the same boat that I thought about buying right?

If so, I knew this guy was shady when I talked to him. If I remember correctly when I called the number that was on the add for Craigs it took me to some guy that said,(I will do my best to quote it correctly so you can get a 'feel' for this guy)  "oh, he don't live here no more, but you can try one of these TWO numbers"

.....so naturally, I wanted the boat and called the two numbers...The first one was disconnected (not surprised) and the second one took me to his buddies house, his buddy picked up and said, "oh he aint here right now but, I been on that boat before, I can tell you all about it. That thing is his baby, he loves it more than his wife, ha ha ha I guess that's why he and that B!tch are getting devorced, oh yeah that is why he's living with me, he should be right back" (now this was like a month ago, so I may not be exactly right on the quoting here but, I am sure you guys get it)

So this went on for a day or so, and the guy finally called me back, (from his buddies home phone, b/c he did not have a cell). And he swore up and down about how great the boat was....what a liar.

Sorry you guys are having to deal with all this, man I knew that guy was a freakin Shady McShaderson.

Honestly as long as we can get it straight (paper work )

I dont care about this clown,  it will eventually come back on him. The Eliminator is legal for 2009 season so after that if it comes down to it , we can find a nice project boat with papers and do a swap ;D

I just want his boat running and out of my hair :banghead:

I've got three hull ID numbers for you to run then.....Cannot get the info from DMV, had to call in a favor to a county Sheriff to get the info. on the Carrera and the Southwind. DMV told me to pound sand...Politely though  ;D I think this is within the last couple years but not totally certain.
