Actually the MC is unrestored, a friend of a buddy of mine saw it on craigslist and my buddy went to look at it. I offered to go in half on it sight unseen if he liked it and so we ended up with it. The story from the guy we bought it from was that he bought it from the original owner (in the mid seventies) who had it custom built for a exhibition ski boat (hence the seating arrangement). It spent the next thirty or so years on a boat lift in a boat house up here on a local lake to be driven once or twice a year and then put back on the lift. I think the trailer still has the original tires on it. It came with a enough spare parts to build another 392, needless to say we think we did all right and are totally in love with the boat. It's no speed demon but it's a blast to drive and was kind of a challange to get used to (think of driving a flatbottom with no rudder). It's really not all that bad but generally if you want to turn you need to use power but not enough to spin it out (as I'm told by Jerry Skagen that it's perfectly willing to do). The 392 was freshened up a couple of years ago by the Cope brothers and runs like a top. All in all it's just a sweetheart of a boat and I think we'll probably never let it go.
