Lexan splash guard

I was reinstalling the existing splash guard I've had on the boat for the last couple years when it broke  :banghead:

Luckily I still had section of lexan that only had a windshield cut out of it for my old race truck  ;D

Used the old one for a pattern and ...



Maybe next time I'll see if they offer it in tinted  ;)

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

How did you bend the Lexan?

Did you have to heat it up?

If so, what did you use?

Lexan doesn't like heat  :thumbdown:  and you definately don't want to wipe it down with brake clean (don't ask) :banghead:

The shield is just flat lexan that is rolled into position and bolted to the gunnels.

It's also only 1/8" thick compared to some of the professionally made versions at 3/16"-1/4".

Without sounding rude, can I ask what the purpose of the splash guard is? Is it to keep water from coming over the transom when letting off the gas or something? I don't know on your boat, but if I had that thing installed on my Rogers I wouldn't be able to get to the water filter, msd box or diverter pump which are all located on the inside of the transom.

If someone is driving and doesn't have much experieince it helps them out.

Also comes in real handy if you are pulling someone on a tube etc. and they fall off. You just have to worry about getting to them and not letting of the throttle, watching so you don't flood the boat AND getting back to the person :thumbup:

Without one on mine, I'd have undoubtedly sunk it a few times now......... :screwy:

Most boats, like Moo, have a lot more free board, (Hull sticking out of the water on the back half) and the design on the transom gets it up and over your own wake if you lift and stop. Never had a problem with water over the transom or sides if you spin out or lift, etc.

Pickle? Forget it! Wakes from wakeboard boats, stopping suddenly or stalling, and my own stupidity have almost swamped it a few times as it is! That splashguard is a life saver on that thing!  I also see why this thing has 2 bilge pumps! They are only mounted to the inside edge of the gunnels/transom, should still have access to all the stuff on your transom.

HaHa this is funny so the splash guard is installed just in case crewchief drives the boat! Some of you will get this, and some of you wont! Just razzing you keith, way to be inventive! So now your boat is ASA Speed Series Approved?

HaHaHa very funny mother fu@#er  ;)

The splash guard does the most in reducing the amount of water that comes in when we are floating and another boat goes by causing a large wake  :thumbdown:  It's not even the first wake that is the problem, it's the second one that hits while the boat is still recovering from the first.  :banghead:

The driver doesn't have any issues with water coming in when the boat is moving  ;)
