New to me Kona
« on: December 04, 2016, 03:41:27 PM »
Just picked up this 76 Kona, had to have the pump gone thru, the bowl bushings were shot and missing the seal and cap but John at Concept Marine put it back together and gave her a clean bill of health, just need to take a Monday to get it out on the water, If anybody knows who built this boat I could use a little bit of info on it like engine specs, what brand of suspension seats they are Im guessing sand car seats ?, I would like to change out the rear buckets if they make a bench. Thanks Chris 909-922-9568

Ok I'll try my best first nice looking kona kona boats were built in the 60s and early 70s in placentia CA by Jerry Baker custom boats. He made boats till he past on. His last boat was a bassboat mold that they use to this day. He made a lot of different boats from 17 foot to 32 foot. From kona boats he went into bigger boats like Hallet and spectra witch he then called Baker boats. So I hope this helped out a bit. Also their are many kona owners in this group and welcome to the group. Awesome bunch of people here and a great family too.

That's a start, now if I can get ahold of him, maybe he knows what brand of seats these are,  and engine specs?

Posting on here worked,  prior owner contacted me,  found out some info on the engine and the seat mfg. Taking measurements this weekend and getting a matching bench ordered,  love this site

I know that my buddy Chad owned that boat and sold it sometime mid-summer.

Chris this is the other Chad that talked to u bro not the old owner of the boat. Glad to see u are putting a bench seat in I think it will look great. I want to put some other seats into my 74 kona next summer. Too many other things I'm doing this winter to the motor and the jet.

What headers are you changing too? I was going to Jet Coat those either gray or flat black.
