thanks alot  . i like you boat the colors are sweet. i ran the boat until about 4pm and we still had about 6 gallons or so of gas. The motor still was pucking alot of oil all day i put 2 quarts in it and the oil pressure dropped thru out the day it started at 50 or so psi and then at the end of the day i could only get about 20 psi on the throttle. Im looking for either someone that knows alot about the olds that would like to rebuild it for me, and ill pay them, or just look for a new motor. i found a guy on craigs list in H.B and he wants $1000 for a boat that needs paint. the motor has about 1 yr on it and the same with the pump. i thought about buying it and then taking the motor out and selling the rest i think that i could get the money back and basiclly get a free motor.

The olds are solid power plants but you want to keep the RPM low- they are real good at pumping all the oil up stairs, but lack the ability to get it back to where it needs to be- I have a good friend that has funneled countless dollars into his olds to make it a good reliable motor- nothing outrageous- if it comes down to a rebuild you might want to consider switching the powerplant up to a chevy or ford- I think you will be money ahead in the long run-  Just my .02- PM me if you would like my buddies number and you can pick his brain on the olds and goods and bads that go with it-

x2 2sav, those olds are pretty good motors if done right,  a good friend of the family has a 455" thats got 13 seasons on it and still does 65+. If you get a good one, let it roll!

Restrict it, deburr it, low volume or even stock oil pump, and a soft touch revlimiter set for 50 RPM more than she'll run Balls Out. It will outlive us all!!!
