well i took it out and it was welllllllllllllllllll, a little slooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww. it showed 58mph on the pito speedo @5400 jacuzzi b cut, then it runs out of gas :-\. yesterday i had to beat on the fuel press regulator to get it to work, i know ghettoooooooo O0

but all in all i'm happy with the engine's performance, it held 75 psi of oil and the guage never flinched. it does porpise at about 35mph but if i stand on it or adjust the diverter it goes away. i tried a little cornering and it wont turn >:( unless i stuff the bow then o-boy you better be hanging on. i only put a couple of runs on it so i dont really know what it will do, i'll be going to elsinore next sat to work out the bugs. if i cant get it done the HORNET is going to the AVI.
some pics.
pops just kickin it

i allready had the sport comp gauges but this thing had a hole for a speedo and i couldnt get a matching speedo i know  O0

pic is after the 2 hour bath to get the salt off and out of the engine, she cleans up good.

now for the bad stuff >:( the burns are from the twisties during break in DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN

when i got it the guy tried vinyl spray paint, it will work for the season :-[

i'm still not sure if i'm going to rebuild the pump or just put a berk in it :-\

well i installed the pump yesterday but first i had to clean the black automotive silicone from the transom, i did the best i could but you can still see some of it. i would like to take the guy that put it on out behind the wood shed >:(

got it as clean as we could, this is pops using some tape so we have a nice clean bead of clear silicone

now around the bowl, and yes that is a wedge for a jacuzzi (rare)

making studs for the nozzle and diverter

i will paint all parts to match this winter, but here it is

GOT ROOST?

well, we went through the pump and the results were not verry good. i picked up 1.4 mph and dopped the rpm's from 5400 to 5100. then the float level on the carb was too high so i pullled the boat out and started to work on the carb. in the process of that the starter took a shit :-\ so off comes the header and i installed the starter that i brought. i just had a feeling it was going out so i packed the extra one.

back on the lake , carb is good, but the boat wont get on plane so back on  the trailor. took the rock grate out to find two rocks stuck in the impeller >:( removed the rocks, ahhhhhh back to it's slow normal self. on the way home stopped at the infamous Toms farms for the first time, let all the kids ride the merry go round along with the train. we got some cold sanwiches and ejoyed the rest of the day. so i had a good trip once again.

talked to jim brock about the performance of the pump and he is not happy >:( he thinks that the pump is not loading hard enough, so he gave my a loader :o and told me to try that. as well he will take up another .030 in the impellor out at the avi. beleive me guys im not giving up and neither is he. on a side note it throws a reall good rooster tail.

if you look real close you can see my buddies wife on her jet ski. i'm giving her a lesson about following too close to a jet boat ;D

giving her a driving lesson,

my daughter getting ready to go on the boat

as i said it was a good day thanx for looking

terry the roost is all for show, it actually rides like crap with it up like that. the best is about 3-4 feet off the water.

yea, i was wondering about having the squirt above the ride plate and not IN the water. I know it's best cuz everybody has ride plates but my thinking is wouldnt it be faster w/ the squirt in the water and not above the plate, know what i mean? Just wondering...Here's a pic of my last boat, it's on ebay right now. sorry pics is so big

I very interested in what you do as far as changes to your jet.  So far the performance of my Hondo has been less that what was expected.  Getting low 50's on gps, can only get about 5' roost with the place diverter (cool wedge).  According to the seller there was a recent $1000.00 rebuild on the jet (?).

I was getting water squirting out of the upper steering pivot pin, but have corrected that by machining a recess at the top and installing a concave type freeze plug.

I noticed at AVI that I'm still getting a lot of water flowing from ahead of the place diverter, at the steering housing.  Does yours have some type of seal in this area?  (Between the black and white housings on yours)  Because my doesn't.

Thanks

first let me say i think the jacuzzi is the down fall of my boat 400hp 5100rpm and 56.4 mph. not happy however, i as well as jim brock think i can get more by stuffing more water in the pump, hence the loader, that i havent been able to try yet. i think that it can be a fast boat if i throw more hp at it but that wont be for a while or not at all if i sell it.

mdunn has the cole t-deck like ours but has a berk in it and i think (dont quote me) low 60's i'll have to ask him to be sure.

as for the seal, yes the diverter has an nylon o-ring around it. does  yours
gotta go back to work

There is a nylon seal at the diverter (up/down) but no seal at the left/right pivot and that is where I'm seeing water spraying from.

Yes that is the part I'm talking about.  With the wife driving the boat so I could look things over there was a lot of water coming from the rear of that housing.  I had it apart when I was replacing bushing and wondered why there was not any type of seal around it  ???

There's supposed to be a thin layer of silicone between the nozzle adaptor and the back of the bowl.

so i'm tired of looking at this broken ass boat, sooooo i ordered the new cam and lifters today from cam resarch and the cool thing is that they have a machine that breaks in new camshafts. so there is no break in to worry about. I think its pretty much for fords but i dont see why they could'nt do others
