1976 SANGER CUSTOM BUILD 800 HORSE POWER. Turn Key.
Due to being laidoff of my job, sadly my boat must be sold to help out with the bills. I have entirely too much invested in it. I would never sell the boat otherwise however, finances are causing me to sell the boat. I can show, start etc the boat to anyone wanting more information. (570)-244-6145. Professionally built 1976 Sanger Jet Boat. I have over $16,000+ in the professional engine buildup alone! I am only selling because I was layed off of my job, and now the boat must be sold. The boat is in great condition! The boat does have it's normal/typical scrape and spider cracks in the fiberglass from trailering it over the years (1976). This is a original 1976' Sanger Jet Boat. Trailer is original and boat has never been repainted. The original 455 Olds has been removed and I had the crate 502 BBC professionally buildup for this boat. Boat comes with it's original dual axle trailer in great condition, tires are in good shape also. I hold the Title to the Boat and Trailer in hand, clean and ready to go. I do not want to sell the boat as I will take a major loss, however due to my current situation I must let it go. NADA value for this boat with the original 455 Olds is $13,500. I had the crate 502 BBC professionally machined and built from the cam up! Engine Shop Build alone is $16,000+. I've had all of the maintenance done at a local marina here in San Diego. Mechanical pump on a 502? ???

Since the boat has been posted here. I have had a new starter, coil, and electric fuel pump prodessionally installed. I left the mechanical one on as a back up, however I have the mechanical delete plate if someone wants to remove it. The boat sits covered in my garage. We had it out on Memorial Day ran great! I also had it re timed and prepped.

My 75' Sanger is still for sale, however, I have not advertised it in awhile. Since CA, I have relocated to Pennsylvania / Maryland area. I have installed new fuel lines, new water lines, braided fuel line with gauge, new spark plugs, elec. fuel pump, new header gaskets, had the 750 db pump holly carb adjusted, all new bolts, screws etc, new coil, and I also have a Sanger emblem correct for the year from Sanger Boat MFG from Sangers very own vault.(Extremely RARE, and almost impossible to find!) I'm sure that I forgot things. Trailer is redone, new l.e.d. lights all around, new fender walls, wiring, harness connector. Yes, the boat will run 80 + mph. I have not seen another Sanger here on the East Coast since I moved here 7 months ago. I also have a second pair of Bassett Headers that will go with the boat. Custom boat cover, bahmi top. Full length stingers. Lots of Photos. I have video of it up on youtube, search 1975 Sanger Jet Boat (4 videos)
I currently have the boat put away inside in storage for the winter, winterized.
(The boat is currently located in Pennsylvania, I live and work in Maryland). I could help with transporting the boat if needed.
The boat is also currently registered and up-to-date until Dec 2015' via San Diego, California
Titles for the boat and trailer are clean/clear and in my name.
I am selling because I need the money for a down payment on a house.

Yeah that's there as well. Top post it was a 90mph not full throttle. Second post 80 + boat. Lots of HP issue's. B impeller at 5000 rpm not close to 800 HP. 9 to1 NA motor better have a 300 shot of NOS to see 800 HP. I have never seen a NA BBC with 800 HP with 1 750 holley. We could go all day but this is a nice boat just not all the facts are on the table.

It's obvious that this guy doesn't have a clue what he is talking about, and is grabbing at anything he can add that he thinks will help him sell his $4000 boat for more than double what it's worth.
Just a short list of "issues" I see with his listing...
A "30 over" bore will NOT add 30 cubic inches to an engine!
The valve covers will NOT clear the needed valve train to obtain 800HP
Crower doesn't make pistons (oval or otherwise).
The newer upholstery appears faded across the tops
And if you read his latest update, he states that it has "full stringers", while in the pictures you can clearly see it is a standard Sanger engine box 1/4 stringer boat.
I sure hope everyone that looks at buying this one has a clue and doesn't get taken.

I wasn't going to.... but I can't help myself. I'll tread lightly. My 454 bored .100 over and stroked with a 4.250 crank and 4.135 rod's only comes to 505CI. And a 671 Mooneyham blower, aluminum heads, and 2 C&J worked 850 dp Holley's made a respectable 826 HP on the dyno.
And, impellar blade pitch is the same on AA, A, B, C, etc. It's the impellar size that makes it an A,B or C cut..
But good luck with your sale. Maybe you'll have better luck on the East coast where jet boats are rare.

I cannot say where I work now however, I am in Washington, D.C. and am purchasing a house this is why I am selling the boat. Lots of great trade offers, sorry. I'm neg on the price at the same time, I will not give it away. It costs $$$$ to build the motor alone.

I apologize if I sh!t in your Cheerios, but your information is so erratic it's hard for me to understand how someone could post this and be serious.
I don't doubt that you spent a lot of money to have your engine built. I'm going to assume you were fed a load of crap and were taken advantage of because you don't have much mechanical knowledge (not necessarily a bad thing, unfortunately it just leaves you open to being screwed).
Now, with your latest post you claim to have a .030 over bore on a crate 502.... making it a 509.... Agreed?
Well, a 502 GM crate engine originally used a standard 4.00" stroke... So, with a 4.75" stroker crank you should be right at 603.29ci per Wallace racing calculator.

I am not trying to beat you up... But you don't have any idea what you have, the information is all over the board. You have not driven that boat to 90 MPH, it is a quarter stringer Sanger (I Have owned both full and quarter stringer Sangers) A full stringer Sanger jet is as rare as girlfriend that wants to pay all the bills, is gorgeous and loves sex...
You need to do some math, get some block and head casting numbers and find the dyno and the build sheets, only then will you possibly be able to redeem yourself...
I would put good money on bad that this is either a 396 or a 402 with truck heads and runs out of poop at around the 65 MPH mark...
I am not sure if I, like crewchief, pooped in your Cherrios (WTH?), but you are not going to be able to come on here and pull the normal Craigslist BS. Have been at least a little curious why the boat is still for sale. No?

Math dude... Get you some. I come up with approximately 603 cubic inches with the information in this post alone..... With a "B" cut impy and over 600" only turning 5,000 RPM, that is one anemic son of a basket case...

Wow. Now I know I'm not an engine pro, but this all goes back to the "you can't bullshit a bullshitter" saying.

Like I mentioned I'm far from an engine guru. I understadnd the internals and can make them run. As for different bores, strokes, valve train and different things like that is all green to me. My Pops was the mastermind with the technical aspect of it.
But a 750cfm on a 502ci, and run 80mph @ 4600 rpm? Must've just taken the jets out to flow enough fuel .. not to mention taking it down a waterfall to get that speed/rpm combo

If its the latter, I'm glad you got smoked out. If not, I'm sorry to hear you maybe invested into something/someone unfairly with a lot of untruth.
There has been a lot of people that have been burned buying boats and parts, and when it happens, it tarnishes the reputation of the site and all its members. A lot of people (especially myself) take a lot of pride in this place. I wish you the best on the honest sale of your boat. Just don't think for a second you will fool anyone here.

If you simply thumb through the thread, the displacement changes several times. How does that happen? Simple, you have no idea what's in the motor for parts .
Like I said before. Produce some documentation to back up what you say and you can redeem yourself.
There was no hate put towards you.

I would not even for a second attempt to sell something on here that was not every single thing that I could prove.

I do however see legitimate questions and comments being put forth to the one person that can straighten it all out, but instead, throws out more random BS without saying that he simply does not know.

The boat is a 75 not a 76 Sanger, 502 not a 454 .30 over, roughly 600hp. Front seats were refinished in summer 13. The boat is old but runs and look great. Yes it is a shame because this website use to be a good place for river rats and fellow boaters. I would edit the posts, however I do not know how to edit it. Nothing wrong with it, turn key just selling due to buying a first house.

All the posts that were made about what your boat is or is not, all had good intentions of protecting the potential buyer. Not to just simply troll your sale ad.
Put yourself on the other side for a second and reread all the posts. I am sure you will see things differently.
Sorry if I offended, but betting you would have done the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot.
Look at it this way. I totally wish you could sell this thing for $11k, I have one I want to try and sell this spring. I doubt seriously I we'll get more than $4k for it. Just food for thought.

Hey Sanger, I remember seeing this boat for sale on CL in SD.... It's a nice ride, but with the boat market being what it is, The numbers being thrown at you are about in line with what the market will bring.
Might think about a stock 454 to put back in it and sell as a turn key and sell the mill separate to get as much of your investment back as possible..... Don't take any of the comments as hate, Not it at all... It's just that details are often over exaggerated on sales posts and folks will call BS if they don't add up, A lot of knowledge and exp on these boards.... I don't think you tried to fake anybody out at all, But I do believe you invested a lot more into it than resale will recoup.....
It is a nice boat and good luck with the sale! Glad things are better for ya now but you gotta be missin that SD weather.....lol
