Alright Hallett 18 lovers... I found another Hallett on Craigslist. I don't know anything about the boat but I did text the owner and he said he would consider taking $4,000.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/sop/5167840710.html

1976 Hallett 19ft Jet boat - $5000 (Temple City) 626-786-4404

1976 Hallett 19ft Jet boat $5000 OBO
There has been extensive customization to this boat and it has been immaculately maintained. Lets start with the drivetrain. It is powered by a Ford 460 big block. Some of the upgrades include a decked block, Weiand Stealth intake, Isky A Cut Cam, Holley 780 4bbl carb, Holley fuel pump, Ford Motorsport high flow oil pump, a Dooley 14qt offshore oil pan w/baffles, MSD distributor and ignitino and water cooled Holman-Moody exhaust (through transom). There is roughly 100 hours on this build.
It has a Berkeley A cut jet and runs flawlessly with a hydraulic Place Diverter with steering wheel controls.
This boat has 2 25 gallon gas tanks and will run all weekend, 2 newer deep cycle batteries with a Perko switch, full interior neon lighting, dash gauges include water temp, oil temp, RPM, oil pressure and volts. The boat has been completely rewired by one of the best boat builders in the industry and done very, very clean. The sound systems has an iphone/ipod hookup and stereo mini along with a remote and it has 6 speakers throughout the boat and 2 12 inch subs under the deck, it sounds awesome. Some of the other features include 2 full length and 2 half length stringers, a large ski locker, a large fiberglass swim step, covered engine, seating for 9 total, an included ski/wakeboard boom, bumpers, rope, etc. The boat is registered for 2015 with mussel fees paid and is ready to hit the water for summer. I've owned this boat for almost 14 years and it has been incredible and I'm really sad to see it go. I've also had the floor replaced and reinforced when the new carpet was installed. Being so old, this boat isn't perfect, the gelcoat has a matte look and will not hold a shine, everyone that sees it says it looks awesome but you can either re-gel coat it or wrap it, one of the seats has a small tear and there is a small gouge in the passenger side gelcoat. The trailer works fine, but could use some paint. The tires don't have many miles on them and still look great. There are a few extra items going with the boat as well.

Hi all,

Newbee here.  Also new to jet boats in general.  Been in some jets & 'flatties' when I was a youngster, never owned one.

Looking for my first boat.  Turns out, I have been talking to the owner of that 76' Miller. Plan to drive up to Mariposa from O.C. this coming weekend to check it out.

Was wondering of some of you out there would mind offering some thoughts, & maybe some feedback on whether this might be a good (or sane) purchase?

Couple of details on the boat I got from the current owner:  He's the #2 owner of this boat. First owner was a neighbor. Says it has not been used much, about 200 hours on everything since new. 460 is bone stock, & besides regular maintenance, has had no work done on the internals...
Not much on details for the jet other than it is stock .

Thanks for chiming in.

Looking forward to chatting with y'all.

You will be very happy with that boat and it is a great buy for that price.. I have one that is identical to it other than color and I am very happy with mine.

Cool.  If I do pick it up, heading to the river (Havasu or Lake Mojave) as soon as I know she's sorted out.  Hwy 62 would be more of a straight shot out there for me, but I don't see why we couldn't take 10 & make a left on 95 & go up if we have time.  I'll let you know.
Quick question: 200 hours on the 460 - too much or is there still life there? Hoping not to have to tear into it before I take her out at least a couple times.

I would take any hour estimate on a motor with a grain of salt. I would say if everything checks out when you go look at it you will make it to the end of the season and just freshen it up in the winter. Mine has the origonal motor only thing replaced is headgaskets and I've ran it hard all summer.. I will freshen it up this winter also.

Encouraging to hear you are still running the original power plant.
I'll do my due dilligance (compression check, oil pressure,  etc.,).  Hopefully it'll all be decent #'s.
