« on: July 25, 2012, 12:05:10 AM »
Figured I would try here.....

I am looking to buy, trade, barter for a 4X4 jeep, a project would be fine, basically a Wrangler, a CJ7, a CJ5, CJ6, CJ8 or even a CJ2...Hell at this point I would go with an FJ40 Toyota.

Let me know what you have or know of...Tired of all the Craigslist crazies...

I don't have a lot of "toy" money right now, but can come up with $2000 pretty easily for the right project.

I can do air conditioning, heating and so on. I have big block Chevy parts, a jetboat, a Colt 1991A1 .45 Let me know. Need to get the kid doing some outdoorsey stuff, the boats don't do it for him too much, plus he will need a car to drive this next year, so going for a two fer... :thumbup:

I saw an older CJ2 for sale in my neighborhood yesterday but couldn't see the info on the sign.  I'll see if it's still there later today (when it's light enough to see the sign)  ;)

Thanks for looking out Crewchief, I called the dude and I'm not sure the drive/transport would be worth my while...

On another note, this is why I hate dealing with Craigslist.

There is this dude near me trying to sell a 69 Ford Bronco (my dream 4X4 BTW) So I immediately respond to his ad, no call, no email, nothing.

So I sent a second message, Nothing.

So he updates his ad and I responded again, nothing...

Here is his latest ad...WTF!!!!!  What is wrong with people? Game playing AZZholes. :mad:

The original ad;

Rough Bronco, hard top, No mega cancer rust, but some rust. 302 motor not original. Extra heads need rebuild for unleaded. Dana 30 front end needs diff but is complete. Dana 20 transfer case with 3-speed manual transmission works good. Brake drums all around with new brake hardware and shoes but brakes have developed crazy pull to the side when braking. Tires old with some tread. Backseat is out but I have it. Front seats are from something else. Ford 9-inch rear-end with 3:73 to 1 ratio if I remember right. Fenders cut with flares. Fiberglass on rear and floppy old rubber flares on the front. Front bumper is a piece of heavy steel. Back bumper is original. Tail gate dented. All the windows are there. Manual steering. Steering rod through column should be replaced as it is worn but I rigged it by filling the wear & putting a new bearing on it. Steering gear is sloppy? I have another one but its the same. You want to put power steering in there anyway right? $1700 is just right to get your hands on this thing. May not be in town to show it to you but contact me anyway. Color is faded orangey in several hues with some rust. Nothing is rusted through. Floorboard corner in front of pedals rusted and separated right on the bend but is repaired. Not welded.

Added last night;

Sorry I havent replied to any of your replies. This is for all of you. I cant get to Hayward right now so I cant sell it. When i can, i will edit that information in & if the buyer can get there in that time frame then i will sell it. I know from selling things on Craigalist it doesnt work well to take the first buyer who replies, they end up owning your time & often dont come through. A bronco might be different though. Currently am in Modesto with a pick-up thast could use 2 new or good used tires & somebody to figure out why the alternator is overworking right next to redline so I can make the trip. Somebody asked if all the vins match. I have only ever seen a vin on the glove compartment door. Cant look again now. & Yes it starts and drives but when I drive it now I go slow with a long following distance and will never take it on the freeway, though I have when the brakes didnt pull to the left that way. I have some of the parts here with me and am gathering them up. Front driveline, etc. Also you will inherit any back issues of Bronco driver magazine and catalogs from Wild Horses 4-wheel drive and James Duff.-Having a garage sale 2day in Modesto, figure out from my Craigslist ad which one it is & u can talk to me in person.Clue: there r pics of a lot of stuff. Oh & the vin# is U15GLF91759 & I purchased it in 1991, so yeah, I'm not too ambitiously build up guy. Thanx 4 your patience.-

Added this morning;

UPDATE: JULY 29th-Just remembered a dicey repair I did in the spirit of full disclosure- The area under the windshield, while not rotted out, did have rust damage that resulted in a weakening of the metal around the bolthole that supports the clutchpedal hanger & it eventually cracked around it and I had to drive home with a bottle jack and a pieace of 2x4 holding it up. Then I took the piece of metal w/the nut in it and drilled holes in the edges and wired thru those to a piece of heavy mesh & bit of steel, stuck it back up there and JB welded it in. It might be coming loose now but it cant fall out I dont think. On a brighter note there is an original prototype of a hood lock that utilizes a heat-bent piece of iron and a padlock to secure the stock hoodlatch. Works great! Patent it and make a million. Oh, I discussed my F-150 problem with a knowledgable sort who says I need to first check w/a multimeter 2 see if the guage is just not reading wrong. & since we just moved Im not sure where my multimeter is. Oh & if I get off my fat-a 2day I shud run just down the road from my house to the big sign by the big yard that advertises USED TIRES. Another thing- I still havent dug out all the various bits and partse that have to go with it AND I should say I am sorry I cant sell it to everyone that replied & I have no way of knowing who is the most deserving of it and someone will get it soon. Note: If u dont have the money to keep this thing up, you dont deserve to rip your hair out trying to figure out what next thing goes wrong with it. PEACE! OH, I was considering making this a version of the gumball rally where I say I am there at the Bronco, give the address & let everybody race for it but a lawyer came to me in a dream & said,"Naw."JUST REMEMBERED-Developed a prob w/back gas tank & long story short, I use just the front tank now with 1 of those little 30 dollar fuel pumps hooked to it. Not sure but I think a street person sabotaged it when I went recycling on his territory, I didnt smell any pee marking the edge!? (Hint: come here and fix my 92 f-150 with its simple problem and u get the bronc. wasnt it obvious? I will deduct cost of parts from sale price.) OR NOT (Also included in the sale is an old rusty Nylint Bronco Toy.)

Update 7/30/12

Update July 30th, Silly me! The promise of 4 tires on rims w/less than 10,000 miles on them and unlimited work on my eff150 swayed me away from the craigslistbronco13 & I agreed 2 a dude driving over 2day & in return 4 getting me on the road to hayward I wud sell him the bronco 4 1700$. He sed he was workin til 2am & wud get here to modesto by 5am or so 2 get started. OK I sed. Then later I called him & sed, "I'm not sure I want a sleep-deprived dude to work on my truck." So, he said, "Ok I will get there not so early." or sumthin like that. Then I sed, "tell ya what, why dont we just change the 2 front tire/wheels & have u take a look at the alternator/electrical issue and forget all the other mechanicing we mentioned." And I thought I got that across to him. Later that night, I thought, what if after the truck work, we go to hayward for the bronco and he says sumthin like, "well, I done all the work u wanted, so I want so&so amount off the bronco,etc.etc. and/or I dont have the whole amount. SO, in the morning when he was sposed to be on his way I tried to call him a couple of times and didnt get through. Midmorning , he called and said he and a friend were on the way. So, I took the opportunity to clarify some details and it seems he thought he was still gonna do a whole bunch of work on my pick-em up truck and in return I would give him the bronco. Then I queried unto him, well how much will u want knocked off the bronco 4 installing the 2 tires and checking the alternator as I stated I only wanted done the previous evening. He went on to say that he fully expected to do an even trade for truckwork for the bronco and didnt have that much money 1700$. How much do you have, asked I. To which he replied, None at all. Oh says I, I'm sorry we got our wires crossed, hope u didnt waste much gas so far on your trip, good day to you. We parted cellphone company amicably. SO, here it is. Still want only $1700 for the Bronco and a signed release of liability witnessed on video( in addition to the release of liability that I will mail away from my pinkslip and a trip to the bank which isnt too far from there to transfer or deposit money. I will review my original 13 replies and choose one from there to call on the day I will be in Hayward, maybe tomorrow on the basis they look likely enuff to be available. I will call when I leave Modesto and I will call while I am on the way. If I cannot reach that person by the time I get to Livermore I will start calling other people. The price is $1700 firm. As firm as my prostate, to be sure. I will not disintegrate on the basis of race, creed or religion. Any buyer is welcome to it as long as they understand I am keeping the price low so they take some time and money to make it a bit more safe to be on the road. Stay off the freeway until you do this. Drive it carefully home at speeds below 35mph. Be a responsible adult, put your lead-footed teenager ratfink aside until you give the old girl a good going over. But then enjoy. OH Yeah, It has a full roll cage. Well, maybe I dont know what full means, 3-point rollcage, front, middle and back attachments. Okay? Hope I havent scared you off from your vintage bronco dream. Cheers! JUST REMEMBERED, the old point ignition has been replaced with a Pertronix Ignitor Solid State ignition. It has worked well for years now.
