it draws water from the pressure your jet pump builds. there is no impeller. thats why its warmer during idle because its less pressure.

if youre not comfortable with it, open your water gate a little more (like 1/2 turn at a time) until you get your desired pressure.

your water gate (valve) is usually near the outlet on your pump. its on the inside part of the pump on the drivers (left) side.

honestly i dont see that being bad temps! most vehicles run around 210 because they are more efficient....that seems pretty consistent to me! if it was me i wouldnt sweat it! jets boats seem to run cooler then that, but who is to say that this boat doesnt have a thermostat kit in it or something rather! but like brad said if you dont like those temps make really fine adjustments on the gate valve...usually just coming off the pump where he said it was located! it will either look like a garden hose valve or a valve with a big lever

Just a quick heads up...I haven't been here much lately, but one thing you are not thinking of it the pressures (cooling system) an automotive engine are under...If he is in the 200's, there is probably only a pound or two of water pressure and the water can boil off to steam really easily.

A car motor can run at over 200* because it is under almost 20# of pressure...

Just food for thought....

Bob, get a bit more water through the motor and you should be OK, unless your pump is tired, which can short cycle water through the wear ring.....

My wife and I have been both working 60-80 hours a week just to get "caught up", been a rough year....

Taking this weekend off to catch up on my chores LOL....I have only slept at home twice in the last month and a half....Back to normal now (60 hours/week)...

I've always been told to run the gate valve wide open and to set the idle at 800 to 900 rpm's.
Higher r's to pump enough water to cool at idle.
