Got my 1970 Tahiti jet boat going and took it out this week to Pyramid lake to test it. Boat ran good with a LOT OF POWER... but lol started to over heat and smoke was coming out from right side valve cover... just want to know what should I look at first.. is the smoke bad what can that mean? Thanks in advance.

Give us a description of the amount of smoke.
How long were you running it until it got hot?
And how long were you keeping the foot to the wood?

Are you sure it got hot?  Pull the valve covers and inspect for water (milkshake) in the heads.

If it did get hot, I'd recommend  double checking all of the water lines for proper routing to start.
