4150 Fuel bowls on 4165?

Anyone know if 4150 center hung fuel bowls will work on a 4165 Holley? Both carbs are DP. Problem is my 4165 bowl is leaking at one of those plugs that are pressed in. Don't really have the coin to buy a new carb right now, I can get a 4150 on craigslist cheap and use the bowls from that.

I am guessing they will fit, but not sure. Also my 4165 (although a 650cfm, pushes the 455 really good right now and I just want to get on the water!)

I don't think they are interchangeable, they use different bowl gaskets and the metering blocks have a different p/n according to the m/n's.

Do you have the "list" number for each?, I could tell you for sure with that.

BTW those aluminum machined plugs are replaceable (five minute epoxy works killer too)

If it is the front bowl, Holley still lists it in their replacement parts.http://www.holley.com/134-110.asp

Depending on where on the bowl this plug is, you have several options regarding repair. First, you can LIGHTLY tap on the plug to seat it in further, followed by tapping on the rolled lip to further roll the material down onto the plug. Assuming you can't get a replacement plug, if there is enough meat around the plug, you could remove it and tap for a pipe plug. If you go the JB Weld route, clean it VERY well with something like Brakeclean first.

I tried JB Weld, didn't work.

I tried some other crap today, not looking so hot either. I am worried the patch will fail while boating, spray gas on the hot headers and not end nicely.

I did see the replacement bowl also, it is one of the front plugs leaking, so that would work, just afraid one of the rears will start leaking and be in same boat...no pun intended.

If the other bowls worked it would eliminate those beautiful plugs...

What holds those plugs in and how do you get them out? I like the tapping idea. didn't think of that. (edit: dumb question, drill em out right?)

Once the plugs are seated, the bowl material around them is rolled over the top. Thats why I suggested the tapping on the plug followed by tapping down on the material around the top of the plug.

To remove them, you need to remove the lip that goes over them. Then drill a hole in the center of the plug that you can run a sheet metal screw into. Grab screw with a pair of vise grips and pull.......Should come out.

I would try reseating them before removing.
