454 Chevy problem
« on: July 27, 2015, 06:48:07 PM »
Hope someone can help me out.  I have a 79 Rogers with a 454 big block and Berkeley Jet.  I was in Laughlin last weekend and I came into some problems.  The engine was running fine but as I headed out of the Marina, it seems as if I sprung a water leak.  The spray looks like its coming from the cylinder head/ flywheel  area but I'm not completely sure.  This caused my boat to eventually break down and I had to get a tow.  I'm not an expert in jet boat cooling systems and could use some advise on where to start troubleshooting.

Look for the easier things first. Check water lines and freeze plugs

If I get too much water in my hull the flywheel flings it, as said above definitely hook up a hose and look it over.
