I've seen pushrods like that a number of times, bent into that exact same shape every time, and inside an engine that's in a jet boat every time...that was over-revved somewhere along the way.
Looks like the lifter didn't pop out of its bore; go ahead and install a replacement pushrod of the exact same length, test run, and hit the water.
