Another cooling question
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:32:55 PM »
As I prepare to switch to OT headers I was thinking about installing a pressure relief valve.  Is this an issue w/headers?  Seems like it would disrupt the t-valve function.

Didn't have any effect on mine, if anything it's working better because it's not flooding the headers when the valve opens.  I think those header valves are set to open at something like 8-12 psi.

so you just set the pressure relief for 18lbs and all is good...  That makes sence.

Its all about one pressure against another, make sure your pressure relief is adjustable, because the tee valve is not. But it works exellent.

So, if I'm reading this right, and not wanting to put another valve up front and run more hose,  the pressure relief valve should be set to 18 psi.  Is that in the river/lake and at idle?

Those T valves blow. Having a manual pressure valve is the way to go. Cheap insurance trust me.

Here is the link to the manual, these things are cool 8)

GT,
Yes they are cool. Just have to run full un-bypassed water to them which takes a little more plumbing.
