455 Olds distributor help.

My boating buddy picked up an MSD billit deal for his Olds, makes me happy, because I'm tired of helping him getting it ready for the season with the damn points in the origional GM dizzy, the problem starts when we went to pull the damn distributor out of the block, we tried everything, the distributor is frozen in the top of the block, any suggestions?, ultimately we will probably have to break the thing out of the hole, just hate to do it (seems backwoods)..Any help would be appreciated.

Not my boat, but we're not doing it in May either.

Spray around the block and dizzy with PB Blaster, now available at Home depot (FINALLY, after months of politicing). Remove the clamp entirely and hose it down. If it still won't participate, soak it again and leave it over nite. If in the morning it won't play the game, then here's what I would do. Not maybe the protocol. I would strap it to an engine hoist, put some serious tension on it, then smack the block with a lead or brass hammer near the dizzy.

Maybe I should let you know what we have already tried.....

Hosed it down with Yield (good shiat) for three days, put a wrench on the base, sprayed the dizzy with liquid Co2, beat the crap out of it with a poly dead blow, tried to break it loose with an air impact (used an A-arm button), to no avail.

When I bought my boat with the original crap in it (point dizzy) and tried to get it out it didnt budge. Sprayed the crap out of it with Free, a moly based rust penetrant. Let it sit overnight and put a small pipe wrench on it and got it to go back and forth and was able to get it out. The pipe wrench being on the shaft part of the dizzy. Just my .02 GT

76 Noric has a good plan too. Though I beleive in PB Blaster. Used that sheit when I lived back east on rust crap, worked like crazy. Only thing that did. In the end, don't break anything, but spray it down, smack it abit, and repeat. only want to get it out and not break anything. The twisting with a pipe wrench, well, sounds like a good idea, just dun crack the block.
