1979 southwind I have a loose drive shaft from the u joints to the block u joints are ok and the main is tight to the flywheel any ideas?

Check the shaft end spline might be wore out

Just curious on the choice of bolts with split washers to pto... Most use a bolt that will reside into the hole like a 12pt or allen head without washer an some blue/red threadlock.

That only works on the resessed send holes on the pto to flywheel. The driveshaft to pto isn't reassessed.

Your spline yoke looks waaay too deep into the pump.

Found issue bolts to flywheel were loose on was laying in the u joint cover second day of ownership but back on the water thanks for all of your input super helpful guys.

I heard chevy is way different and not as deep so got it back together hopefully works good fingers ×ed

Chevy, Ford, Olds, MOPAR, Nissan, Toyota, Hyabusa. I don't care who's engine it is, you cannot bottom out the spline yoke without damaging the engine.

Would sliding the motor mounts up work or just run a new u joint assembly?

Unbolt the drive from pto an slide the drive into pump till it bottoms out...measure how far its from pto. You want at least a 1/4". If its less you need to either move the motor forward or pull the drive an machine a bit off the end.
