Hello fellow jet heads! I’m new hear. Just purchased my first jet...She has a 460 Berkley A. Currently 750 Holly. Tunnel ram dry Bassett’s! 5k rpm WOT. Don’t know the internals. Want to throw a roller cam set up in her. Looking for an education in proper specs for a jet. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! TIA!
We specialize in Ford 460s and profile custom cam grinds for these engines. No-one can recommend a camshaft profile to you without
first knowing specific details about your engine including cylinder head type and specs, engine displacement, etc. Without all the
pertinent information, any new camshaft profile is a shot in the dark and the salesman is just taking your money.
If you have a flat tappet cam now, then a solid roller cam upgrade is at least a $1200 upgrade to do it right (roller cam, roller springs, retainers,
roller lifters, push rods, stud girdle, etc), and probably more to do an optimized upgrade. You had better research your engine internals
more accurately in order to get your money's worth.
76 gps in moderate water conditions is nothing to sneeze at, and over 80 mph you might want to think about other boat upgrades such as
trim tabs and other forms of stability control, not to mention other hull tricks to increase speed rather than engine power upgrades.
