Had a good time at the SCJB run this weekend! It was good to finally meet some of you. Anyways I was lucky enough to have the starter die on me while waiting to pull the boat out last night. Is a marine starter necessary? I have a closed hatch but always run the blower and open the hatch most of the time when starting it. Not trying to go cheap but from what I've heard most everyone is running a normal starter right?

Don't mean to post on your on yours but Just pulled my starter and had auto zone cross reference the numbers. This this what they came up with but when I put it on and tired to fire the boat it wouldn't turn over. Sounded like it was binding. Not sure if it needs shimmed the old starter wasn't shimmed and the new one didn't come with any.  Looking for some help as well.
