calling engindoctor... need some motor help
« on: April 27, 2010, 03:59:32 PM »
so, as some people know, my motor (BBC, w/ 990 heads) let go the day after Nordies did last weekend. this weekend we got it taken apart, and i need a new cam( ground some of it flat. yay!) new bearings, and rings.  What i need help with is, i need to to get my crank ground/polished, and my block hot tanked, line honed and my cylinders honed. my cylinders are in good shape, just a precaution, my crank has some sctratches from the cam metel chewing up the bearings. did not spin the bearings which is good. i was not planning on having to rebuild my motor this year, so my budget is extremely thin. both Brand and Nordie spit out your name very quickly. can you help? or what are your thoughts? thanks a bunch in advance.

Dave,

one of the bummer deals about this that he didnt mention is hes got a wrist pin thats very tight...still moves, but with force. they are press fit into cast GM pistons. I know we opted out from doing it with my original setup, but would it be easier to push these out? or is he going to have to pick up another piston/rod/pin?

either way, i know you know what youre doin...just wanna give ya a heads up!
